Top Ten Wish List?
Wednesday, August 10, 2011 at 11:00AM We're hoping to reboot all the major TFE series when Labor Day rolls around and the fall season begins. On that note, what kind of lists would you like to see pop up as future Tuesday Top Tens? Y'all kill me when you don't speak up -- there I was dying to know how you'd answer the "tea with famous ladies" and "The Hours for men" questions and you're all speechless?! And with such juicy fellow-reader-provided questions? Anyway here's a quickie list.
Nathaniel's Top 10 Wish List for the Fall
- A least 6* movies worth debating, loving, building blog shrines to.
- Steady stream of blogging inspiration (our job) and increased reader participation (your job)
- For precursor voting bodies and critics to have their own unique spin on "best" this year, rather than joining Oscar bandwagons.
- Actress Mania to spread like wildfire starting here and in a new series we're working on.
- Release of Film Bitch Awards book, debut of video series and best film festival coverage yet.
- An actual budget to achieve such things. See right hand sidebar if you'd like to become a patron saint of TFE's universe for the low low price of one cup of coffee a month.
- Michael Fassbender.
- World Peace. (It's impolite not to ask for it when you're granted wishes)
- To be hired as a consultant for AMPAS. Good lord but they need the help sometimes. We'll start with their issues with Honorary Oscars and then we'll tackle the other problem areas.
- Three more wishes **. (It's not cheating unless the genie tells you you can't do that.)

Personally I'm also wishing for you book, Nat. I miss being able to go on here and look at your old nominees and winners for movie recommendations or to check what you thought about a film I've just seen. I used to do it with "Inside Oscar" but that kind of just has to stick to Oscar-relevant material so it's not quite the same. Keep us updated on the progress of the book though!
I've been noticing sporadic commenting on a bunch of film sites lately. I think people are just burned out from the summer of unending superheros.
My big wish is for the AMPAS to rewrite all their rule for the music branch. I have a firm grasp of how they work and it still makes my head hurt. This would include redefining best original score to include original musical scores again. There will never be another year with 9 musicals that can jump the super high "we're going to strategically score you" hurdles to be eligible for that award to kick in.
Maybe after those additional wishes come in, you should wish that you don't get named Gracie Lou Freebush after your #8 wish. Better safe than sorry.

The Jack -- the progess is... there's not much progress. argh.
I'd love to see some genre lists like best horror movie, best scifi actor/actress etc. Also maybe just some random list like top 10 films about (insert topic)
It'd also be cool to see Great Moments in OnScreen Bitchery again ;)

I love reading your comments when you talk about fashion in red carpet events, so maybe you could combine fashion and top ten lists. Not best/worst dressed lists, but top ten iconic movie outfits divided into decades, or something similar. I don't know. Or maybe a selection of the best acceptance speeches...

Off topic, but seeing both Ralph Fiennes and Kristin Scott Thomas on your new banner made me swoon a little. . . And by "a little" I mean "a lot."
OMG! AMPAS should be hiring you just right away... they seem so lost to me!
A top ten Oscar facial reactions or a top ten Oscar acting clips would be great. Also more polls like the last ones... I just love them!

I second the on-screen bitchery and James's last suggestion and I'd add a Top Ten for the most overrated "great" movies.

The first suggestion that came to my mind was also *something*, not necessarily a top ten list, about Gena Rowlands. It's weird that there's a legendary actress, and not even a foreign one, you haven't (I think?) written about.
