AMPAS last year I did a piece for Slate on the hierarchy of thank-yous in Oscar acceptance speeches that I was super proud of. The research took me so long I made negative money an hour on the piece but now Oscar has gone and done the work for me, unfortunately after the fact, by archiving acceptance speeches. Can't wait to investigate this archive when I have more time.

Finally...
Cinema Blend Bryan Singer hasn't decided if Storm and Nightcrawler will be in X-Men: Days of Future Past. Alan Cumming told me he'd revisit the character if asked but can we please replace Storm? Since it's a time travel story why not give Angela Bassett the chance she deserved all along as a now older Storm? The cast list currently mixes X-Men First Class alums with previous X-Men franchise actors. Confirmed to appear: Ellen Page (Kitty Pryde), Patrick Stewart & James McAvoy (Professor Xavier), Ian McKellen & Michael Fassbender (Magneto), Hugh Jackman (Wolverine), Anna Paquin (Rogue), and Sean Ashmore (Iceman), Jennifer Lawrence (Mystique), Nicholas Hoult (The Beast), and Rose Byrne (Moira McTaggert)
Who do you hope joins this mashup X-Men team or are you done with that franchise?

How about Bassett as Berry's sister or mom.
Yes, I want Storm! If they go older Angela is a great choice. Or Iman. lol if younger then Kerry Washington.
At this point I would even take supermodel/sometimes actress Iman as Storm over Halle Berry, though Angela Bassett has always been my choice. While we're on the subject, I've never been a fan of Anna Paquin's Rogue either, but I have no clue whom else I'd want to see in the role.
Do/Dump/Marry: I offer an alternate option. Do and marry Jean Dujardin with the choice to invite the other two over for the occasion menage a trois.
I feel that it is just too soon for a mash-up...... Let the first class (mcavoy and fassbender) have another Xmen movie on their own...
For me, The X-Men film franchise is like The Star Wars film franchise: It'll be done with me long before I'm done with it (which would be never). I wish Famke Janseen (Jean Grey) and James Marsden (Cyclops) would be added but Singer has said he's taking all the previous films into account, so they're probably out given their fates in that travesty of a third film (although some of the other people already on the cast have similar issues). I'd also love to see Rebbeca Romin (Older Mystique) and Alan Cummings (already mention) return as well.
As for Storm, I'm not usually a huge fan of re-casting a character so late in the series - prequels aside - but I'm willing to make an exception with this case (should the character be included). I thought Berry was decent in X2 but she was never the best choice for the role and ended up being one of the many things wrong with The Last Stand. Also, there's plenty of other black actresses that would kill for a role like this, so why not spread the wealth.
Rogue was the Jubilee/Kitty of the first movie. Considering the changes, they did a pretty good job with her in the first two flicks but ruined her in the third. If they wanted to be more faithful to the character but still young my choice would be Sophia Bush. Not the best actress but she's very charming/sexy and fits the bill.
It looks like Emma Frost is out, but if you believe the gossip about what went down behind the scenes with January's pregnancy, then I guess it's not a surprise. Surprised Rose will be back though. The character seemed so disposable.
Guillame Canet, do
Jean Dujardin, dump
Matthias Schoenaerts, marry
Last episode of Girls was just awesome. That episode alone will grant Lena Dunham all kinds of awards next year. I watched an episode of Two Broke Girls and Girls back to back. I don't recommend it, it makes Two Broke Girls look like it was a show from 30 years ago. The only flaw, Patrick Wilson wasn't naked enough.
Singer and Berry hate each other. So Storm as a character was never treated well on screen. I always imagined Angela Bassett as Storm when I was young. Too bad they didn't get her then.
Too bad Zach Gilford's post-FNL career has been so dreary. Matt Saracen deserves better than being the guy who gets killed in the first act of an Arnold Schwarzenegger movie, dammit.
Golden - never heard about the Singer/Berry feud.
I've been ok with Berry as Storm even if Angela Bassett would totally BRING IT. I'd be super-stoked if they can bring Jean Grey/Famke Janssen back. Jean Grey has always been one of my all-time favorites (i think she pretty much has the best powers of the whole series) and i love Famke to pieces. I'm always up for more Famke when available.
I would'nt mind Kelsey Grammer's Beast too because i thought that was another example of flawless casting but things already look overstuffed as it is. Too many mutants was one of the big problems with X3.
golden & derreck -- but wasn't Singer feuding with everyone on X2>? from my understanding that was a miserable set.
From what I remember the vitriol was especially poisoned between Singer and Berry. I can't imagine him wanting to work with her again, or vice versa, but maybe they've aired it out since then. Anyway I love the character of Storm, but Berry was terrible and the movies didn't seem to have any idea what to do with her, so maybe it's for the best with Singer back in the director's chair.
I wanna second what Jamie said - the geek in me is excited to see all of this come together but I really hope the focus is kept on Fassbender and McAvoy - after being so great in XMen Muppet Babies they deserve their sequel.
I got the sense that the acrimony between Singer and Berry was pretty thick. I remember reading a magazine article in which she stated she initially had only one or two scenes in "X2" and that her role was expanded after she won the Oscar.
I can't be the only one who hated Sean Ashmore as Iceman, right? Iceman was never one of my favorite characters to begin with, but at least in the comics he had a sense of humor and some personality. The Iceman/Rogue love story was painfully dull.
The X2 set feuding is all news to me but i did check out stuff about Halle and Bryan.
Apparently, In pre-production in 2005, the direction for X3 would've been totally focused on the Dark Phoenix saga which the end of X2 hinted at. Considering Berry's somewhat limited role in X2 and X3's story also being a limited role for Storm and the fact that Berry snagged an Oscar, Berry wanted a meatier role for her character. Things didn't pan out and Halle was ready to drop out leading to this delightfully bitchy but subtle quote from her publicist.
"Since winning her Oscar, Ms. Berry wants to focus on roles that challenge her artistically and not just do bit parts when they come around.”
But then Singer dropped out of X3, Storm got a bigger part and Halle's back on board.
Cut to Singer's latest quote about Halle:
"I can't say. I don't know yet. And it's not necessarily a deal making aspect at all," Singer said in a recent interview with MTV. "I want to make sure it'll make sense. But I love working with her."
There's also some story about Singer, X2 and a painkiller that's kind of gossipy.

Sidenote: I have a problem with my posts being eaten. I usually just copy what i write to make sure and then paste if it doesn't appear.
I've seen all the X-men movies. I was even touring this old mansion (Casa Loma) and it looked so familiar, and then we read some tourist info that said it was used to film the school in X-men.
I would like to see back: Alan Cumming, Rebecca Romjin, and especially Famke Jansen.
Since I've never read the comics, I don't know if Jean Grey's character rises from the ashes- is she called Phoenix? My favorite part of these movies has always been 1) Wolverine 2) Wolverine with Jean Grey 3) Rogue. I am less interested in Magneto and the Professor.
