/Film Reality Bites, one of my personal definitive movies of the 90s, is going to TV series. I'm not against this in concept except that Winona Ryder is unimproveable as Leilana so you're starting from behind, you know? I've long thought it was her (arguably) her greatest performance in a career full of memorable ones.
MNPP suggests a movie for Domnhall Gleeson and David Wenham. Someone Kickstarter Ginger Heat please!
Cinema Blend whoa, I thought Tony Jaa (of Thai action Ong Bak film fame) was long gone from cinema but he's been added to the Fast and Furious 7 cast
Boy Culture pitch-shifting Madonna's vocals on MDNA. These lower versions sound so much better which leads you to wonder what was with all the up-shifting (p.s. I love the album as is, unlike most)

Gawker defends Ben Affleck's casting as Batman by way of Heath Ledger's equally (at first) controversial casting as The Joker. Forgets to also notice that Heath Ledger was always an awesome actor before The Joker but yes, people do go on about casting notices for superhero films.
*Speaking of... ZOMG
I forgot to mention what you've already finished talking about. That Marion Cotillard replaced Natalie Portman in the upcoming Macbeth film. The one with Fassy as Macbeth. Yay, upgrade! I like Natalie more than Marion (historically speaking) but that part was such a weird fit for the ballerina.
*Lady Macbeth, and the Complete Character Gallery of Tennesse Williams plays are my equivalents to superheroes when it comes to casting notices. I'd definitely prefer a new Lady Macbeth or a new Maggie the Cat reboot every 5 years to a new Batman or Spider-Man origin story every 5, wouldn't you?

Yeah, I love love love Cotillard, but the accent will be so distracting!
Wasn't word from Cannes that Cotillard did a great Polish accent for her character in The Immigrant? Perhaps she'll attempt a Scottish one for Lady Macbeth. That could go horribly, horribly wrong, I know, but I'm rooting for her.
Oh. My. God. That Cinderonce video. LOL!
I only remember the Orson Welles version of Macbeth when most of the cast was doing the Scots accent. I don't think it's too necessary.
I would kill for a "filmed live" play version of Streetcar every ten years or so. Every white American actress over 50 gets to play Amanda Wingfield but we still only have Leigh and Brando's Blanche and Stanley immortalized? Shameful.
And I'm not a big "Cat" fan, but isn't it high time for an accurately homoerotic film adaptation? Sheesh. Oh wait. Oh god. Why doesn't Lee Daniels do a totally bonkers "Cat" riff?
Cinderoncé F....ing brilliant.
@Jake D - You should find a copy of the HBO adaptation of Cat on a Hot Tin Roof from 1984. Not only does it retain the homoeroticism, but it features Jessica Lange and Tommy Lee Jones at the peak of their talent and beauty. Also, Kim Stanley and Rip Torn give incredible performances in it.
Ooh, didn't know about it. Thanks!
Marion feels so right for MacBeth and Natalie so wrong that it seems odd that she wasn't the original choice. I like Portman but Marion is the superior actress in my opinion. Her accent may be a little off but since when has that ever made a difference in Hollywood.
I agree, Marion is a world class actress. Portman was lucky to get that "Black Swan" role. Cotilard's performance in The Immigrant is the best performance by any actor this year so far. Yes, even better than Blanchett.
forget Magie the cat how 'bout Blanche DuBois played by, Julianne or Nicole or La Huppert...
I could go on on...
"I'd definitely prefer a new Lady Macbeth or a new Maggie the Cat reboot every 5 years to a new Batman or Spider-Man origin story every 5, wouldn't you?"
Abso-f**king_lutely! It's a huge shame that we haven't seen a new Streetcar or Glass Menagerie for such a long time. So many actresses that would be exciting to watch in one of those great roles but no, we get ScarJo in The Avengers...
Marion Cotillard and Michael Fassbender have got to be the hottest Macbeth duo on film. Count me in!
Soooo many Cinderoncé feelings. Imma break 'em down.
1.) MAGNIFICENT.
2.) Bless your hearts for just playing the tracks and not trying to cover B.
3.) Todrick, I know your not-even-Top-24 ass is not tryna sing over Beyoncé right now...
4.) Thank goodness a real queen showed up to get the lipsync back on point. What's up, no one knows the words to Diva?
5.) Has America chosen Shangela as the crossover queen of RuPaul's Drag Race? :(
6.) 1+1 needs no mashup. Get outta there Todrick!!
7.) Anybody else pretty interested to see what this kid could do with a real budget/script?
@TB Agreed we with you on #7. I watched some more of his videos last night and was very impressed with how he directed them. He really does have talent.
I really enjoy Portman's work but Marion Cotillard seems like the better fit for Lady MacBeth. But in all honesty, I would prefer somebody more like Tilda Swinton for the role.
TB -- break this down for me and dont judge that i dont know but what is this top 24 you're talking about and who is Todrick Hall? (remember I dont watch reality tv comeptitions... whenever i dont know who someone is i safely assume they're a reality tv star.
@Nathaniel--He's a season 9 American Idol contestant who got eliminated in semi-finals. And trust me, not even the most obsessive Idol viewer could ever ever ever shame someone for skipping season 9. From what I remember he had a Broadway background as a dancer before he auditioned for Idol.
Nathaniel! A little typo to fix re: Reality Bites. I was OUTRAGED for a half a second until I finished the sentence and knew what you meant.
Winona Ryder is unimproveable in almost everything she did around that time.
@Nathaniel-Did you hear the news that Lee Daniels confirmed his next pic is the Amy Adams as Janis Joplin pic that's been percolating for awhile? It kinda got buried in the whole Affleck as Batman thing, but I find it infinitely more exciting. Curious as to your thoughts (have you shared before?) since you've recently been talking about how Daniels tends to get interesting work from his actresses versus your hot/cold view of Adams.
Also seems (unconfirmed though) that it'll be more of a slice of life type bio rather than the typical greatest hits thing, which is usually good news.
Marion's win over Christie must have left some serious residual hatred in Nathaniel's attitude towards Marion to "historically prefer" Natalie. Oy vey.
@stjeans I saw Huppert played (in French) Blanche DuBois while I was visiting Berlin. She was a bit remote (or was it the directing) but still mesmerizing...
