SAVAGE GRACE FOREVER! Nice reunion. Julianne's speech ends with a bit on "work and love" and it's beautiful and she seems so happy. Eddie Redmayne gets played off because they're running long. But it's still a long time until Oscar. Can they repeat?

A big night for Boyhood with 3 prizes but Birdman and The Theory of Everything also took home two Globes and Grand Budapest won best picture, comedy so it was a spread the wealth kind of night.

That Kevin Hart/Salma Hayek moment was one of the most uncomfortable things I've ever seen at an awards show.
I hope The Grand Budapest Hotel takes the Oscar for original screenplay, but it looks like Birdman is the film to beat.
Kate Hudson worked with Rob Marshall in Nine, that must be why she presented the clip for Into the Woods, just like with Jack Black presenting Boyhood (after being directed by Richard Linklater in Bernie and The School of Rock). On the other hand, other than being British, why was Colin Firth presenting The Imitation Game or Clive Owen presenting The Theory of Everything?

This was the best Golden Globes I've seen in years. Really deserving winners across the board, and my viewing partner actually teared up during Patricia Arquette's speech. I hope it's one of many she will be making this season.

Keaton won the oscar with that speech. Redmayne got cut off. Neither has a best picture win to carry them through. Imitation winning and Benedict could have been a threat but Keaton's narrative and performance is too good to ignore for voters. He will take sag. Bafta might go to redmayne. Keaton is back at oscar.
Here's a thought, if it's Keaton, Moore, Simmons and Arquette, then it would be the first time since 1997 that all four acting winners are playing fictional characters. With that stat in mind, Keaton might be vulnerable, especially considering that his co-nominees are playing Alan Turing, Stephen Hawking and Martin Luther King. I want Keaton to win, but that stat is a little hard to ignore and if the other three are already as locked up as they feel, well, you get my point...
The Cosby joke was good, the Clooney joke was better.

As a victim of sexual assault, the Cosby joke was so NOT funny. Dear god. MAYBE in like six years or something, but it's still so fresh and unresolved that it's just not at all cool to make light of. :/ Same with the North Korea shit. Just wasn't funny. I was extremely turned off. Made me glad it's their last year, and usually I love them. Bring back Gervais who is just poking fun at the rich celebrities in the room, not a country full of citizens being oppressed by a dictatorship.
BUT, there were some great winners. I wish Uzo had won. But Froggat gave a good enough speech that it made it feel okay. And I enjoy that the Globes aren't totally predictable.

One of my disturbing takeaways is that Eddie Redmayne got that much closer to being a threat to Keaton and my whole body is now full of DO NOT WANT. Like, this performance bait??
Grand Budapest might even lead on the nomination tally now the same way it did at the BAFTAs.

Gotta say, most of the tv winners were pretty deserving. Transparent! I've been a huge Jill Soloway fan since her days as one of the best Six Feet Under writers and this is so nice to see her work validated like this.

I thought of you the minute Patricia pulled out that piece of paper. Written speech, glasses, humongous ribbon, hair covering half of her face ... Patricia, girl, I want you to win (and you will) but you need to practise this whole thing! Look at Julianne!
P.S. Tomlin's face-lift horrified me and Michelle Monaghan doesn't look like Michelle Monaghan anymore.

I only saw Birdman yesterdday and totally get all the love in all categories but supp actress I like Emma Stone but that role was blah,i much preferred Ryan and Riseborough but Emma's a name so they went with her,i feel this a real coatail nomination,Norton is my no 1 for Supporting with Keaton in 5th for lead loving Fiennes,Boesman,Carell and Gyllenhaal more.
Oh, how I would not be so impertinent as I am now had I been a child of Frances McDormand. I am in-love/scarced-shitless of that lady, and all I want and need in life is for her to scold me!

Super pleased pleased with how Birdman, Grand Budapest Hotel, and Boyhood all got something--three great films I actually saw in a theater, and loved every performance and every second of each.
Also pleased with HtTyD2 winning best animated. I think Lego will take the Oscar though. Both films are great. Just saw Book of Life and really enjoyed that one too! Good year for animation.

@Bruno: You are so right. That was a great Amy Adams performance. Better than her performance in Enchanted, I would say. So, it's not all doom and gloom! But seriously, more Lois Lane? She was wretched in Man of Steel.
As cute as Dean DeBlois is, and how personal "How to Train Your Dragon 2" is, to him, I still think "Lego", was not only the Best Animated film this year, but the best since "Fantastic Mr. Fox" and before that, "The Lion King". I get it, I get it... personal and moving speech was expected by DeBlois (who also was due to some recognition) and that prevailed over the free marketing to a danish corporation, even if the film is a masterpiece.
It is.
The other great, great film of the night, at least got Screenplay. Out of the ones I've seen. I still need to see Boyhood, Theory of Everything or Selma, for example. But seen Birdman, Whiplash (unimpressed by them), Imitation (lacked punch), Into the Woods (yes but not) and Interstellar (vomit inducing)...
