"I'm gonna ask you, okay? And you say yes, okay? Are you my mom?" / "Yes, sweetie"
This is your daily reminder that Julianne Moore won an Oscar*
A lot of actors have played Juli's screen kids over the years. Hopefully not all of them have been too traumatized by it since she plays "bad mommy" more often than good one. In fact, here's a list of them because a) it's fun to make lists and b) we go above and beyond here at The Film Experience. We really do. So you should like us on facebook, follow Nathaniel on twitter, and sign up for the forthcoming newsletter pretty please!

And now the first of them (Eddie Redmayne) has just won an Oscar! As I said in yesterday's New Oscar Trivia post it's the first time our Best Actress & Best Actor winner have previously costarred as mother & son.
Which of her screen kids will be next?
Maybe Emma Stone who was so delightful while practicing with a LEGO Oscar? Or Wahlberg or Moretz or Stewart or.... what'cha think?
* How long can I keep this up d'ya think?

22 child actors in The Prize Winner of Defiance, Ohio, and none of them have broken out. Right? Very strange for an ensemble that big 10 years down the road.
I'm going to boldly say that Paul Dano and Kristen Stewart will be the next of her screen sons and daughters to win, both in Supporting.
Mia W.! One day! She just does too much good work not to get recognized eventually.
I want a Lego Oscar.
In a just world, it would be Ed Harris.
I'm torn between Emma Stone, Kristen Stewart, and Mia W.
I'm going with Emma Stone, she is the "it" girl of the moment and much like JLaw they (the academy) are all in lust with her. Did you read those brutally honest Oscar Ballots? If Patricia Arquette hadn't been such a lock, Emma Stone was there 2nd pick.
Too bad there wasn't a way to nominate a Ryan Gosling performance this year; we could have had all of the stars of Crazy/Stupid/Love as nominees.
I can feel you through the computer. Who knew Moore's coronation would unlock the secret to your joy?
It better not be Wahlberg.
You should keep with this until another overdue actress or actor win. n.n that will take a long time, lol!
Gonna go with Brando Barbaro
I predict that Haunting Offscreen Presence will some day win an Oscar. Look at the career that kid has had already!
Seriously, Julianne, enough with the dead children...
Agreed SanFran. Mia was AMAZING in Tracks - I hope this movie gets more of a following as time goes on.
I think Amber Waves is my first true love.
Who will win an Oscars next is interesting of course but maybe still ways off. For something a bit more immediate, I wonder who will NEXT get a nomination. Will be be Redmayne again?
A daily reminder that God is an Oscar winner is a great idea since for so long we thought it was never gonna happen. These posts serve to heal the mental damage of all those years. I still feel it could've all been a dream.
God looks so happy in every picture it's infectious. Yay!
I think Mia Wasikowska will be Juli's next screen child to win an Oscar.
Nathaniel, that is quite a list...that's dedication!
Congratulations again on God's victory.
We can all pray that Chloe is not the next winner.
Nathaniel - how long for days of Julianne? There are 12 days of Christmas so let's use that as a minimum. Seasons last 3 months, so if this was the season of Julianne, 90 days would be appropriate. Let's say a "Goldilocks" number of 50 days ( 6 weeks).
Julianne deserves a sweet afterglow period of 6 weeks which feels about right to me.
Call for help: Maps To The Stars is about to open here in Chicago. I've read mostly negative reviews here on this site, so I'm wondering if this is worth buying a ticket, or should I wait for the DVD? It's been called one of Julianne Moore's best performances.
brookesboy -- i liked it and Julianne is AMAZING in it but it's definitely a mess in some ways.
wow, I never knew how GOOD Emma would look like with a golden guy in her hand... that feels soon.
Nathaniel--thank you so much, I'm sold!
Steve--Emma and Julianne look like fun girls to hang out with!
My guess would be Emma Stone. I'm fairly certain she'll get an Oscar, and sooner rather than later. I would hope that Ed Harris gets another stab at it someday too. Stepson Tom Cruise deserved it (and was snubbed); that performance holds up even better now than it did then. More than anything, though, I hope this isn't God's last Oscar.
More than anything, Moore just looks so happy. And that makes me happy. Just like wine does.
Nathaniel, if you have a post every day until the next Oscars to remind us that Juli won an Oscar I won't complain a bit. I woke up this morning and that was the fifth thought in my head. Top FIVE!
I forget that Moore and Stone played mother and daughter. (Of course the best combo is and always will be her Amber Waves with Rollergirl.)
Anyway, I feel fairly certain that Stone will be next to get an Oscar should she continue to play her cards right and for God's sake challenge herself. (Thank God the Spiderman franchise is moving in a direction that releases her from its suffocating, inexplicable web of being so far beneath her.)
I think I want the Lego Oscar more than the real one. I hope Julianne managed to get some for her husband, her kids, her parents, and herself. She's earned it.
That list just shows how many times Julianne was snubbed of a nomination.
She was great in at least 5 other films that she didn't get nominated.
Savage Grace, What Maisie Knew, Children of men... excellent in so many films.
Thank God she finally got her Oscar on her 5th momination.
Now we just need Amy Adams and Glenn Close to join the Oscar club.
It's funny to see Crazy Stupid Love on the list, since I had that movie on the mind a lot during this Oscar season. I found it really cool that Steve Carrell, Julianne Moore and Emma Stone were all nominated in the same year (as a family reunion of sorts). Actually, I found a lot of connections among this year's 20 acting nominees. Here are the ones I found:
Steve Carrell, Julianne Moore & Emma Stone: Crazy Stupid Love
Steve Carrell & Keira Knightley: Seeking a Friend for the End of the World
Julianne Moore & Mark Ruffalo: The Kids Are All Right
Reese Witherspoon & Meryl Streep: Rendition
Julianne Moore & Meryl Streep: The Hours
Robert Duvall & J.K. Simmons: Thank You for Smoking
Keira Knightley & Rosamund Pike: Pride & Prejudice
Benedict Cumberbatch & Eddie Redmayne: The Other Boleyn Girl
Keira Knightley & Benedict Cumberbatch: Atonement (yes, they had already worked together)
Julianne Moore & Eddie Redmayne: Savage Grace
Emma Stone & Felicity Jones: The Amazing Spider-Man 2
Keira Knightley & Mark Ruffalo: Begin Again
Robert Duvall & Michael Keaton: A Shot at Glory
Bradley Cooper & Emma Stone: The Rocker
Bradley Cooper & J.K. Simmons: The Words
Richter: I came up with only one missing.
Keira Knightley & Felicity Jones: Treasure Seekers (TV movie)
