Small correction: Flowers is in Basque, not Catalan (Basque is a language they speak in a region of Northern Spain, probably the only language in Spain that is not even close to Spanish).
By the way, I'm curious to see what you guys think of Theeb. It's a fascinating film...
There is no such thing as "going overboard with the podcasts."
You can easily track the background reactions watching A Pigeon...at home. I did it last night. The static camera forces your eye to move around the screen and pick up variances in the scene. I can imagine this playing better in a packed theater, but what were the odds of this getting a wider release than qualifying with its sensibilities? I still loved it.
Welcome to the end of cinema, BIG SHORT! I hope CAROL is bullying you until you beg your pardon!!
I just felt too stupid to "get" The Big Short. Didn't understand all the financial stuff, even after they explained it, and didn't find anything funny or any actor in it extraordinary.
More podcasts = awesome.
I hate THE BIG SHORT **so fucking much**...even more so now that's it's climbing the Best Picture chart over gems like Carol and Room. And the idea that McKay could seriously get a DGA nom is nauseating
Nathaniel - You won't like hearing this, but I think "The Big Short" is going to win Best picture.
I always use my nephew as a bellweather and he liked TBS better than "Spotlight" and "Brooklyn". Now he hasn't seen "The Revenant" but I trust his judgement. He liked "Birdman" better than "Boyhood" last year. I don't like it as much, but I don't discount how much the audience was enjoying it.
