The Finalists in All "Short Film" Categories
Oscar announced the finalists in the documentary short film category a month ago but now we have the live action and animated finalists as well so the charts have been updated with links and information.
As expected Pixar's Piper which played before Finding Dory and Disney's hilarious Inner Workings, which is playing before Moana are both in the running. But if you're interested in seeing glimpses of their competition for those coveted five nominations, all the other trailers are after the jump...

This is from the director of Feast, that super brief short about a man's romance told from his dog's perspective through food. He's the only director in competition who has already won an Oscar.

excuse me for being impatient but...where are your acting predictions? :)
Inner Workings was funny but it struck me how slight it was. It felt like a rehash of their 1943 film Reason and Emotion (with the brain playing the role of Reason and the heart playing the role of Emotion) except the propaganda portions have been replaced with Bill Plympton's Guard Dog level paranoia. I presume it will get a nomination but I don't rank it ahead of the other shortlisted films I've seen. (Then again I've only seen five)
No one else pointed that out, but I think it's the first time ever that none of the semifinalists in the Short Live Action category is either produced or co-produced by USA.
