Today's Watch...
I was watching George Clooney and Channing Tatum lounge and dance about in Roman soldier and Sailor costumes during the big game so I watched the new movie commercials afterwards. X-Men Apocalypse, Captain America: Civil War, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2, The Jungle Blook, 10 Cloverfield Lane, Jason BourneIndependence Day: Resurgence are included after the jump.

So if "Bare Neccessities" is in this does this mean they're doing it as the musical and hiding it... or will they just use that song and nothing else?

John Goodman has a weird career

Cannot wait. I know from superhero fatigue but the good Captain is my exception. I'd go every year.

What we learn from this ad is that Matt Damon's trainer does a very nice job and that ladies talk at or about Jason Bourne. The ladies being whatshername and Alicia Vikander.

It breaks my heart that there are such huge audiences for this but Carol and Room can't even get to $20 million grosses. This is why we can't have nice things.

Why make this one if Will Smith wouldn't do it?

Olivia Munn's Psylocke looks awesome.

Sean C: But how likely is it that she has a big "worth the entrance price" level role for a Fox Superhero movie? (Seriously, since Deadpool has kind of disappointed critically, I'm probably on the edge of the "want Fox to give them all back" point. FF is unquestionable (It's Clobbering Time will never be the same again), but the X-Men movies haven't worked on any sort of consistent level either, even if they only once (Wolverine Solo Film 1) got as bad as their three tries of Fantastic Four films.)

The most upsetting thing about that Teenage Mutant NInja Turtles sequel is the discovery that Laura Linney is in it! Whhhyyyyyyyyyy?

Someone needs to find a vehicle for Mary Elizabeth Winstead.

The X-Men: Apocalypse, Captain America: Civil War and 10 Cloverfield Lane spots were pretty damn good and the best of the night. Even though I gave up on Bourne after falling asleep on the first two films, this new one looks decent. I liked the first TMNT more than I thought I would - even though I'm a fan of the property - but this one looks annoying. I liked the ID4G trailer but the spot didn't do much for me. As for The Jungle Book... meh.

Trailer for X-Men makes Jennifer look cheap and amateurish. Not seeing longevity for her.

James Ivory deserves an Oscar. Let's start campaigning. Who is with me?

I saw those Hardy pics over the weekend and they made me very happy :)

@Volvagia: They've been open that she has a small role. I consider the whole thing worth the price of admission. Singer has made three X-Men movies, all of them at least good, and four of the five released X-Men movies have been good. The last two, in particular, I consider the best to date.

February 9, 2016 | Unregistered CommenterSean C.

Sean C: If you only include the mainline. Add in the spin-offs (Origins: Wolverine, The Wolverine, Deadpool) and it's 5/8 good (The Wolverine is not as bad as Origins: Wolverine, but it's still a bloodless (and over-budgeted) PG-13 Wolverine film) with not even a near masterpiece (X-2 is still the best of this pack of films, but that doesn't mean it's even up to the level of The Winter Soldier or Batman Begins) in the lot.

February 9, 2016 | Unregistered CommenterVolvagia

I liked The Wolverine. I'd rate X2, FC and DOFP in the pantheon of great superhero films, to varying degrees. Singer, especially, has always invested his characters and themes with uncommon depth.

So, are we going to boycott Independence Day II?

My own review of Maurice from last summer. What a joy it has been to rewatch this perfect film over the years. Maurice just keeps getting better and better:

How has Mystique's look become so tacky after 15 years' (!) advance in technology and special effects? She was easily the coolest part in the first X-Men. Now she looks like Tobias Funke.

February 9, 2016 | Unregistered Commentercaroline

@caroline - LOL very well done.

February 9, 2016 | Unregistered CommenterMDA

That Bourne movie looks really different from the previous ones. Maybe that's a good thing?

@Paul Outlaw - thank you! That's a fun poster. But why are they wearing the same outfits? (Not that that's the most important point to focus on here...)

Mr Hady's real man body is hot ( and why do they blocking his dick?)

February 9, 2016 | Unregistered CommenterJaragon

For the first three X-Men films - and X-Men: First Class - Mystique's make-up was done by painting the actresses blue, applying scales, etc. With DOFP and Apocalypse, however, they changed the method to a blue body suit because J.Law was allergic to the paint.
