Thoughts I Had While Looking at Television's Actress Elite...
Good morning, readers! Here's your wake-up call:
That's a whole lot of actress powerhouses on television in one small selfie: Sarah Paulson (The People vs. OJ Simpson), Julianna Margulies (The Good Wife), Constance Zimmer (UnREAL and House of Cards), Regina King (American Crime), Kirsten Dunst (Fargo), Kerry Washington (Scandal), and Jennifer Lopez (Shades of Blue). Before you jump to conclusions that Ryan Murphy is just expanding his empire, let's take a closer look:
1. What exactly caused this moment of divinity? Casual friday brunch? Do they all share a dentist?
2. We are not worthy of Regina King and we never will be.
3. Kerry Washington is there too?! Ray reunion! Wouldn't they make a great duo in something fun and female-empowering like Thelma and Louise?
4. Everyone is lovely here, but Sarah Paulson is serving.
5. It's easy to forget if you're like me and don't watch much television that even large stars are making the TV leap by the minute - but haven't we kind of been sleeping on the fact that Jennifer Lopez is the star of a network procedural?
6. This is the Emmy's Actress Roundtable we actually want, yes? Yes.
7. Maybe Jennifer Lopez should be planning the members of group magazine covers a la Vanity Fair. I'd totally buy this off that magazine rack!
8. Wait! There's room for one more next to Constance Zimmer! What TV actress would you squeeze into this selfie?

I would probably squeeze in Claire Danes or Taraji in this selfie. Also, a Thelma and Louise type of film with Kerry and Regina would be awesome!
Taraji, perhaps. Edie Falco, maybe. Krysten Ritter could work. Or the obvious Viola Davis.
for sarah paulson fans: check out her recent interview on fresh air. she discusses some very interesting stuff.
Maura Tierney. TV royalty.
Keri Russell.
So sad Dunst is now a tv actress.
I hate this pic. They all look frozen.
Tatiana Maslaney.
Or to really mix things up, how about Judith Light or even Maggie Smith?
I agree with cal roth - it should be Keri Russell, who deserves more attention. She was fabulous on this week's episode of The Americans.
(My alternate pick is Abigail Spencer, who REALLY deserves more attention.)
Kate Mulgrew (OITNB) "Red" is a classic. Also on board with the Tatiana Maslaney, and Keri Russell. Both are extraordinary and it's more than just the wigs, and make-up changes.
ROBIN WRIGHT! duh
Margulies is just so stunning in this pic, but at other occasional times, she just looks frigid, weirdly enough.
Does anyone here really watch Shades of Blue though?
I'd put Tracie Ellis Ross in there, just to represent the comedy series.

What does this mean? Film actors who go to TV receive offers for new film work. Viola Davis, Taraji P. Henson, Jessica Lange, Kathy Bates receive a visibility boost from being on TV than struggling to book film work off their decades long filmography. Laura Dern and Whoopi Goldberg are getting movie gigs from being on TV. Hollywood is a cruel and lazy place. Film actors have to book quality or popular TV shows/miniseries for casting directors and Hollywood producers to consider these talents vital again.
I wouldn't have minded seeing Rose McIver in that selfie. (And if you don't know who she is, you are sleeping on the best show on CW...)
And I'll be honest: at first glance I thought Constance Zimmer was Mariska...
Lucy Liu. Need some Asian representation in there and we haven't heard from her in a long time.
of the actresses shown... I love Paulson, Durst and Lopez ( Shades of Blue )
Dunst ... sorry!
I agree with others and say Keri Russell. Emmy voters need to be shamed for continuing to ignore the best drama on TV.
I love Tracee Ellis Ross.
Is this a Revlon commercial? I was not alerted but will take a note to Accounting. We know JLo has certain angles, and this very bad angle for her will come in handy at some point. I did not realize Kirsten Dunst had moved to television but makes sense.
Jennifer Lopez is there....she no belong. What is this image for?
I'd add Gina Rodriguez. Though yes, I'd love to get some Asians up in here: Lucy Liu, Ming-Na Wen, Contance Wu.
Replace them all with 6 version of Tat Maslany ;)
Who is that Mexican in front of Ms. Kerry?
Kaitlin Olson? I know Always Sunny in Philadelphia should probably DIE now, so that cast can be tried for leading film roles, but she's good enough to be counted here. At the very least, Sweet Dee is sweeter than Grandma Lex's Peach Tea.
Eva Green. She is phenomenal in Penny Dreadful.
My guess is Kerry is there to push CONFIRMATION in addition to SCANDAL.
Love that Regina King is there to remind us she's probably got a double chance at gold this year with THE LEFTOVERS and AMERICAN CRIME. Just excellent.
