"Best Shot" Schedule for May
'Here's what's coming up the rest of this month on Best Shot if you'd like to join us. It's easy. You...
1) watch the movie
2) pick a shot, post it and say why you love it
3) let us know you did via twitter, email or comments and we link up
May 24th Star Wars: The Force Awakens (2015)
We pushed this back a month since it wasn't yet available to rent but it's time to revisit future jedi Rey as she takes on the patriarchy the resurgent Empire and evil Emo brat Kylo Ren with her newfound gifts (and swooning sidekicks Poe & Finn.)
May 31st A Dietrich Double!
Morocco (1930) and/or Blonde Venus (1932)
The Film Experience obviously loves Old Hollywood sirens so why have we given Dietrich so little attention? Let's rectify that weird gap and close our "Girls Gone Wild" month (yup, that's the theme for May) with either or both (your choice if playing) of these Von Sternberg classics as Marlene Dietrich breaks through from singing foreign curiousity to Hollywood superstar by way of androgynous seduction and chain smoking.

There's a very specific shot of Vincent Perez in Queen Margot that I would like to post...
No Almodóvar?
Good mix. I know you're not going to schedule a cutscene pack (I get it, it's an odd experiment), but what about doing a "first episode grab bag" for one or two cartoons that debuted from the 1960s to now.
60s: Scooby-Doo: Where Are You, What a Night for a Knight (22 minutes)
70s: Star Trek: The Animated Series, Beyond the Furthest Star (22 minutes)
80s: The Simpsons, Simpsons Roasting on an Open Fire (22 minutes)
90s: 1 Segment Divison: Batman: The Animated Series, On Leather Wings, Multi-Segment Division: Spongebob Squarepants, Help Wanted (7 minutes)
00s: 1 Segment Division: Avatar: The Last Airbender, The Boy in the Iceberg Multi-Segment Divsion: The Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy, Meet the Reaper (7 minutes)
10s, so far: 1 Segment Division: The Legend of Korra, Welcome to Republic City. Adventure Time, Slumber Party Panic (11 minutes)
I will repeat my Christopher Guest idea.
The only thing I remember about Morocco is Marlene Dietrich saying:
"There is a Foreign Legion for women too. But we have no uniform, no flag, and no medals when we are brave. No wound stripes when we are hurt".
Lisi is Everything in Queen Margot.
I need to find a blog (and some time) so I can do the Marlene Dietrich double feature. Oh lordy lord, do I need to do that.
I miss Isabelle Adani so much! And she shouldn't be almost retired since she is French, and French stars always have great roles even after the 50 years old.
I'd love to see her do a second take on Camille Claudel. But she is not accepting roles and Binoche took it, and made Camille Claudel one of her best roles and perhaps her greatest performance ever.
Nathaniel, we can't hardly wait for Marlene Dietrich.
"Gilrs Gone Wild" also screams
to me "MAE WEST".
There's no much actressexuality without Mae West. ;)
Nat: Why not also throw The Blue Angel and Shanghai Express as possibilities for that last slot? More choices likely means more takers, after all.
Here for Force Awakens!
Forget about this Best Shot business...today is Cate Blanchett's birthday! It should be a public holiday.
Isabelle Adjani is the most physically flawless person I have ever seen. And so talented! Wish we got to see her more often.
