Emmy Nomination Reactions

"Whenever Niecy Nash is an option I've got to pause a minute and appreciate that she walks among us." - Scott

"Schitt's Creek has managed to outdo just about every other show, comedy or drama, in how it gives its characters genuine life beats to play off, and to then pay off in beautiful (and hilarious) ways." -Manny

"Overall, I'm satisfied with the nominations. A lot of good surprises." - Goodbar

Showbiz History: Hound dog Kurt Russell and fishy Fiona Shaw

7 random things that happened on this day (July 10th) in showbiz history

1964 The Beatles release "A Hard Day's Night" their 3rd studio album. Have you seen Yesterday the high concept musical comedy about a world without The Beatles in it? Only the title song from this particular album gets played in Yesterday

1981 It was a big weekend for Kurt Russell with two new movies in theaters...

he headlined both the dystopic action classic Escape from New York and Disney's The Fox and the Hound, as the voice of Copper the Hound...

1999 "If You Had My Love" by Jennifer Lopez enjoys its 5th and final week at the top of the charts. You MUST see the video for the time capsule to what the internet looked like in 1999. Hee!

2009 It's the tenth anniversay of the outrageous Brüno starring Sacha Baron Cohen, brand new in theaters.

2010 Emily Blunt and John Krasinski marry in Italy. Happy 9th anniversary to the lovebirds

2015 A sad day for us here at TFE with the death of Egypt's most famous actor Omar Sharif. Murtada said a memorable goodbye.

2020 Supposedly Ghostbusters 2020 (aka Ghostbusters 3) is opening on this day with Sigourney Weaver reprising her role (and possibly the other original Ghostbusters minus Harold Ramis obviously... RIP... though we probably won't know this to be true until the movie is closer to completion). Confirmed actors in the cast include Carrie Coon, Finn Wolfhard and McKenna Grace (as a young mom and her two kids) and Paul Rudd.

Today's Birthday Suit

A very happy 61st birthday to the BAFTA and Olivier winning phenomenal actress and awesome lesbian Fiona Shaw of stage (Electra, Medea), film (Harry Potter, The Black Dahlia), and television (Killing Eve, True Blood) fame. We've loved her long time. Next up for Fiona is a supporting role in Francis Lee's film Ammonite which stars Saoirse Ronan and Kate Winslet and she's currently filming Enola Holmes starring Millie Bobby Brown as Sherlock Holmes' young sister.

Also a very happy birthday to...
Oscar winner: Art director Kim Sinclair (Avatar)

Oscar nominees: Actor Chiwetel Ejiofor (12 Years a Slave), Screenwriter Annie Mumolo (Bridesmaids), Documentarian Ellen Kuras (The Betrayal)

Gong YooActors: <-- Gong Yoo, Sofia Vergara, Isabela Moner, Wyatt Russell, Alec Mapa, Jonas Bloquet, Peter Serafinowicz, Golshifteh Farahani, Jacky Cheung, Adrian Grenier, Carlton Carpenter, Gale Harold, Thomas Ian Nicholas, Sung Jun,Tony nominee Emily Skeggs, and Golden Globe-winning Lolita herself Sue Lyon.

Directors: Cary Joji Fukanaga (Sin Nombre, Jane Eyre, Beasts of No Nation), Charlie McDowell (The One That I Love), Matthew Ross (Siberia)

Celebrities: Jessica Simpson, Grammy & Tony winning composer Jerry Herman (Hello Dolly), Writer Alice Munro, and Pet Shop Boy Neil Tennant

And if it's your birthday today, have a great one!

And now another sad marking with the loss this morning of the great Valentina Cortese. Iconic in Day for Night but wonderful in many, many other films as well.

Silent star actor John Gilbert (a massive star in his day) was also born today.

Couldn't help but notice that the actors & other actors birthdays are duplicates.

Bruno made me laugh and feel uncomfortable at the same time. SBC's performance is surreal!

I don't want to see Yesterday. Fuck Richard Curtis and fuck that no-talent ginger Ed Sheeran.
