Emmy nominations will be announced in just under a week. Now that we’ve finished our major category predictions, we had a chance to convene the Emmy team at The Film Experience (myself, Christopher, Nathaniel, Carlos, and Cláudio) for a broad discussion of our hopes and expectations. Watch below to enjoy an energetic conversation about many topics, and share your favorites and predictions in the comments! We’ll be back again in this format once nominations have been announced.

My Drama Series Prediction?

Lock:

1. The Crown
2. Lovecraft Country

Probable:

3. Lucifer (What? Netflix WILL get at least 2 noms, and this is the second best card in their deck, at least this season.)
4. The Handmaid's Tale
5. The Mandalorian

Possible:

6. Perry Mason
7. The Boys
8. For All Mankind
9. This is Us
10. Bridgerton (I get the SAG noms. It was the fresh kid on the block, less than a month old at the time. But is Bridgerton (Period Gossip Girl) good enough to endure 7+ months of scrutiny as to what it is and isn't? I REALLY don't think so, especially not if Netflix can only push two across the finish line. If Netflix pulls off the Drama Series nomination haul they did last year? Sure, this will be their nominee #3. But I don't think we should count on them doing that more than once every 4-5 years.)
11. The Falcon and the Winter Soldier (Isn't this going to be judged a Limited Series...?)

I appreciate the tip to see Pink Skies Ahead. I thought it was a good flick.

Volvagia -- i would be shocked into sudden death if Lucifer received the top nomination. It has received a total of 0 nominations in its six years on air. Plus it's a network procedural (which they no longer get into) AND a supernatural show (they only get into genre shows if they're zeitgeist shaking like XFiles or Game of Thrones)

James -- i hadn't heard of it untilt he Emmy ballots but it just goes to show you how much there is on TV and how lost in the shuffle movies get (especially movies that play on television)

Nat: It WON'T get in past this (lean) season, but other than The Crown, what does Netflix have in their deck, this season, really? The next strongest in terms of prior nomination heat is Bridgerton. But, as I said, Bridgerton got those as "the fresh show." And it's not now. Netflix getting a second nom is basically secure now, but what show gets the second slot can be a big surprise. Did ANYONE call Bodyguard when THAT happened? Also: The Mandalorian is a more episodic affair than they've nominated in awhile, so...the wheel might be turning slightly...?

Does Claudio have an Onlyfans. Asking for a friend...

Oh Volvagia, these are quite lucid predictions by you with just enough wackness to be recognisable.

Is Lovecraft Country on drama or limited series race?
