Lovely and hilarious podcast about a year I quite like for this category.

As far as "the first time you noticed them," in 1993 I picked up the Entertainment Weekly fall movie prreview (with La Pfeiff) on the cover, and got very excited about Short Cuts, which was written about in a big feature featuring photos of the entire cast. The only name connected to the movie I hadn't heard of was Julianne, and I became kind of fixated on her.

A couple of weeks I saw The Fugitive, in which she has a small role, and I was like "It's her!" Even in a tiny role in The Fugitive, she really gives a lot.

For the 'first time you noticed them' question - regarding Joan Cusack-I remember, oddly enough, looking at her when she was an extra in the Chicago-based 1980 film 'My Bodyguard.' Something about her just being in the background without a word of dialogue made her features stand out. After really noticing her in 'Sixteen Candles,' Chicago press about her mentioned her starting out in 'My Bodyguard.' She really has a different structure that just makes you focus on her.
