They've Got Character!

Hedda, Ronaldo, Rumi, and Remmick were some of the most memorable characters this year
In my mad rush to complete the annual Film Bitch Awards before Oscar night, I have completed the "character" pages. Each year I eagerly await meeting new divas, heroes, sexpots, and villains in the movie theaters and then celebrating them this way. Supersized or heightened characters tend to make more of a difference in genre pictures, but you'll sometimes find indelible characters that fit these rather broad labels in comedies and dramas, too...
HEROES - I understand that I love The Fantastic Four: First Steps more than just about anyone else alive. It's a strange feeling but I'm okay with that. This was a perfect place to honor Mr Fantastic and The Invisible Woman as well as their bestie and their brother.
VILLAINS - You better ring that bell, "Aunt Gladys" (Weapons), if you hope to take that gold. Her vicious competitors in the ring for the gold medal include a planet devouring celestial, a river-dancing vampire, a bloodthirsty warrior, and a toxically masculine buffoon. Does Galactus (The Fantastic Four: First Steps) even have hair for Aunt Gladys to pluck in order to control him?
Jennifer Lopez in "The Kiss of the Spider Woman"
DIVAS - While I don't love the new film version of Kiss of the Spider Woman (better in ambition and theory than in actual execution) the diva category didn't feel complete without Jennifer Lopez as Hollywood star "Ingrid Luna" playing love struck "Aurora" and her nemesis the lonely frightening "Spider Woman" in the film within the film. This is Jennifer's second nomination in the category after her work in Hustlers (2019). Can she medal again? The competition from Thompson, Qualley, Chalamet and Stone is fierce.
SEXPOTS - Jonathan Bailey scores his second consecutive nod in this category, following "Fiyero" in Wicked up with "Dr. Henry Loomis" and his 'slutty little glasses' and extremely sexy moral compass (among other attributes). The most recently released nominee (in theaters now after a qualifying run last year) is Alexander Skarsgard as an emotionally cold but physically hot leather daddy "Ray" in Pillion.
