Best of '15: Hunkalicious Screen Beauty

Our Year in Review party continues! Cue mood music.

Since The Film Experience obsessives over actresses almost daily, the actors could use a little spotlight from time to time. So this entry into our year in review party is a beauty break starring the year's best man candy in cinema ...with a little TV thrown in for extra flavor.

15 A superhero... but which one?
Any of The Avengers will do but if actors are going to be expected to be on special diets and grueling workout routines daily for those spandex ready bodies, you'd think Marvel would let them go shirtless for more than 10 seconds each movie. Chris Evans is still the most delicious among them but we'll give this round to Paul Rudd for the sleeker non-steroidal fitness regimen (which we hope becomes more the norm because Henry Cavill's Superman body is so cartoon weird; it's like a giant chest and shoulders with random stick appendages and face).

Runner up goes to Chris Hemsworth When Wet: in that silly pool of visions in Age of Ultron; shipwrecked and starving but still somehow maintaining the workouts in In the Heart of the Sea; or even just those carefully wet stray Blackhat bangs

Fourteen more people or categories after the jump. But fair warning... it's slightly nsfw. So it's a good thing you're on Christmas break. In the immortal words of Tina Belcher...

Whimsical Beauty Break with Saoirse Ronan

Murtada here. W Magazine is famous for offbeat editorial photo shoots and their latest is no different. To celebrate the release of the 1950s romance Brooklyn they shot its star, Saoirse Ronan, as literally “Queen of Hearts”. Ronan certainly breaks and wins hearts with her performance as Irish immigrant Eilis Lacey. The film has been winning fans since its debut at Sundance in January, including on these pages.

On why she wanted to make Brooklyn after the jump...

Beauty Break: It's World Egg Day !

Today is World Egg Day. For real. The Film Experience's official preference order:

  • Burnt alien eggs prepared by Lt. Ellen Ripley
  • Baby Munchkin birthing eggs in the merry old land of Oz
  • Jurassic Park eggs when Laura Dern stares at them

Nathaniel's official preference order: Scrambled, poached, over easy, fried, boiled but whichever way you prepare them, they're wholly delicious. To celebrate this important occassion, here are some movie star photos...

Beauty Break: Alexander Fehling

In a very stacked weekend for new releases -- 10 of them in total with names as big as Anne Hathaway, Andrew Garfield, Robert de Niro, and Ryan Reynolds -- plus expansions for the mountain climbing spectacle Everest and the hotly buzzing Emily Blunt & Benicio del Toro cartel thriller Sicario -- let us draw your attention to one of the smallest, but not the least of the new films and stars. Germany's Foreign Oscar contender Labyrinth of Lies arrives by way of Sony Pictures Classics. Yes, it's a Holocaust drama* but here's something much less sober to contemplate: the beauty of its leading man Alexander Fehling who you may already recognize from Inglorious Basterds (2009) or Young Goethe in Love (2010) and who you'll see very in just over a week on the season premiere of Homeland's 5th season as he joins that series as legal counsel Jonas Happich, Carrie Matheson's new love interest.

But we saw him first, Carrie!  [More...]

Beauty Break: W Magazine October Issue

Behold an Inez & Vinoodh celeb-filled photoshoot they're dubbing "The New Royals" in the latest issue of W. Kicking it off with Scream Queen Jamie Lee Curtis below -- wasn't it great to see her again in Scream Queens? Ryan Murphy has his foibles -- I get that he's always trying to be "outrageous" rather than serious but there is an odd whiff of misogyny strung through everything -- but bless him for giving so many actresses of a certain age big parts.

More photogenic divas including Claire Danes and Academy Award Winner Julianne Moore* after the jump...
