Though liveblogging and livetweeting has its drawbacks -- I always miss something when i"m typing, Social Media has kept "events" in event status so we welcome it. Here are some tweets that had me screaming or thinking or nodding or LOLing on Oscar night and the morning after.... plus a couple from me because Michael Keaton thanks Narcisuss at the Indie Spirits so I'm allowed.

The 87th Academy Awards. Live Blog

08:29 3...2...1...

08:36 We began with a big musical number "Moving Pictures" with Neil Patrick Harris, Anna Kendrick, and Jack Black. Some of the audience likes it more than others.Keira Knightley and her date look at each other and laugh. Some of the opening monologue is funny... but why do jokes about Oprah always come across so awkward. David Letterman 'you got your Oprah in our Uma Thurman!' and now NPH equates Oprah with American Sniper. "cuz you're rich" 

08:46 BEST SUPPORTING ACTOR GOES TO J.K. SIMMONS 
He never mentions the movie or anything. Puzzling. Just talks about his wife and "above average kids" - people still laugh at that line despite the sweeping of the precursors and that he's used it each time. Tells us to call our parents. My mom would not believe it if I called during the Oscars. She'd think someone died.

Neil Patrick Harris tries to make us believe he's an Oscar nerd with an elaborate bit which IS NOT A BIT about his predictions locked up on stage. He puts Octavia Spencer in charge of watching them.

Pretty Oscar Artwork & Ceremony News

Manuel here. One of my favorite thing about this year’s Oscar nominations was the beautiful artwork that adorned the screen as J.J. Abrams, Alfonso Cuarón, Chris Pine and Cheryl Boone Isaacs read out names like Marion Cotillard, Laura Dern and Dan Gilroy though sadly not Ava DuVernay’s nor David Oyelowo’s (might they have a better chance with their next collaboration, that Katrina murder mystery film?)

 As it turns out, the Academy is really upping its game when it comes to art you wish you could hang in your living room. Last year’s ceremony poster was quite the snooze-fest and I have to admit, other than that fantastic Olly Moss’s gorgeous poster from 2012, AMPAS’ artwork as of late has been rather dull. You have to go back to 2007 to find my other recent favorite poster (those quotes!). While the official poster for this year’s Neil Patrick Harris’ hosted affair has yet to be revealed, AMPAS’ "Imagine What's Possible" Artist Series is giving me hope they’ll wow us. You can see the full roster of posters here, but I’ve picked out my three favorites below.

I wish we could say the same thing for the rest of their marketing efforts (am I the only one underwhelmed by those NPH Oscar ads?). Thankfully, they’ve recruited Oscar winners Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez to pen an original number for the triple-threat host, though he surely has mutant shoes to fill! This, added to recent news that Adam Levine will be performing "Lost Stars" (from Begin Again) and Common & John Legend will be performing "Glory" (from Selma) means we might have quite the musically-inclined ceremony.

This & That: Ant Man, Early Emmys, List Mania

Creative Arts Emmys 
By now you've probably heard that the kiddie table awards for the Emmys have been handed out. (Theory #1: If you have too many awards to fit them all into one big awards show, you have too many awards. Theory #2: Awards shows should be longer but if you still can't fit them into a 4 hour event, you have too many awards). Todd VanDerWeff, TV expert, reminds us that the Creative Arts Emmys don't really predict the major Emmys with quite the precision by which the craft categories on Oscar night can signal an impending Best Picture win. But it was a very good night for Orange is the New Black, Sherlock and True Detective among others. Here's a complete list of winners and the guest acting prizes went like so:

Guest Actor, Comedy: Jimmy Fallon, Saturday Night Live
Guest Actress, Drama: Allison Janney, Masters of Sex (her 5th Emmy but the first for something non-West Wing)

Congratulations to the winners. But I'm definitely shedding tears that the Mad Men curse continues (no acting winners ever in its entire run). Even Robert Morse's transcendent song & dance farewell couldn't break it.

I've never been more attracted to the Winter Soldier

In which Earth's Mightiest are modified for maximum cuteness and sparkle. But I hadn't seen it and now my life is complete. Well nearly complete. My life will only be complete IF they make Thor 3 this way. At least then it'd be infinitely more watchable than Thor: The Dark World.

Ant-Man
While we're on the topic of superheroes I do want to note that the long troubled Ant Man is finally out of the gate as filming has commenced. I've gone in and out of interest in the project over the years but unlike most of the internet, the last minute hiring of Peyton Reed in the director's chair was the best possible news I could have heard after the unfortunate exit of Edgar Wright. Peyton Reed is so undervalued (see Bring It On and Down With Love and be embarrassed for every ignorant person who has ever called him a hack.)

And now one last cherry on top. The rest of the cast has been announced and among the awesome ensemble cast which includes people we know and love like John Slattery, Bobby Cannavale, and Judy Greer, I have to personally congratulate David Dastmalchian for getting another big deal film. I've had an eye on the actor since nominating him for a cameo prize for The Dark Knight and he did super work again just last year in Prisoners in a small but key role.  His upcoming film Animals, which gives him a rare leading role, was this year's SXSW sensation. So happy for this fine actor. You should expect to hear more from him. And very soon.

"Female Superhero Pitches a Movie" - this one has some pretty great lines in it as she keeps meeting roadblocks and narrowminded executives. I wish the pace was faster and the video shorter for more viral pleasure but, still, it's funny.
