Video: "The Artist" Team. Live Nomination Reactions!

Given the frequent flyer miles they're collecting en masse, it's impossible to know where The Artist's team is at any time. But the French site "About My Star" was in the room with them when the nominations were announced and they filmed this live video. As you can see, producer Thomas Langmann, writer/director Michel Hazanavicius and his stars Jean Dujardin and Bérénice Bejo were wide awake; no one in this crowd can use the always suspect "I was sleeping when I heard!" line.

Bejo, Hazanavicius, Dujardin and Langmann watching the nominations

Of course if they were in France during the announcement, it would have been 2:30 PM and that would be a strange time to be sleeping. 2:30 PM is a much more reasonable hour to be wide awake with champagne bottles uncorked! VIDEO AFTER THE JUMP

I love Bérénice's face when she hears "Terrence Malick" and Michel's when he hears "Démian Bichir." (pictured below). They didn't expect those names in Director and Actor.

I guess they've been following the Oscar blogs if they knew just who to be surprised by ;) Though it is worth noting that some of us predicted Terrence Malick.

Aw, they are so cute! I don't know how certain Oscar bloggers can be so against this team. Also, I love how not-phony they are...Michelle Williams actually had the nerve to go on the Today show and say that she found out from a mother in her carpool. Please...

All I can say is that this video is sooo adorable.

Bia - Are you serious???!?!?!? Ahahhahahhhaahahha, Michelle what the fuck?! Excuse the language, but I find that hilarious. Gurl please!

January 26, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterPhilip

hahahah but Bia Michelle Williams is a MOM first, Actress second. We must all remember this.

If she wasn't on a Weinstein film, I'd believe Michelle, but there's no way Harvey didn't call and say, "get your press release out, now!"

Love all of them, expecially Bérénice...adorable she starts to scream after hearing her name

Harvey probably came up with the car pool story for her.

Berenice was so SO SO cute when she said 'Oh supporting role!!' ...and then starting jumping up and down and screaming. and then her man kissed her :D I'm really happy for them, I just hope they choose to stay in the U.S and add to our pool // I worry they aren't going to so we won't see much of them after this.

I'm pretty sure I will now watch this six more times.

I'm not in anyway rooting for them on Oscar night but I was honestly touched.

As I'm French, I'll give you my two cents on their expressions at the name of Terrence Malik.
It looks more like a "that's a tough contender" (Malik won the Palme d'Or at Cannes last year).
When they hear Scorcese, it looks like "yeah, he'll have to come!! We can meet him!!"

They're so cute, it's nice to see honest people and not artists saying ''I didn't expected I was sleeping, then the phone blablablaba'' I Got a crush on Michel so bad he is like a total DILF (Director I like to friend) =P

I think they know its sort of their one chance really, how many French actors / directors get nominated multiple times, not many, so it's really great to see how happy they are, they are just gonna enjoy the whole experience it seems. I have a hunch Bernice just might surprise in Supporting for the win

God, I love them all so much. The Artist is, like, my third favorite of the BP nominees, but more of these people please!

They're so cute! I remember watching a video like this with Cotillard back in 2008.

I love the "Well Done!" face on Bérénice when they announce Malick.

Quite honestly I found this video quite annoying. I don't mind if Hazanavicius and Dujardin were hosting the get-together, but these were the two guys waiting to hear if they were nominated. Did they have to be pouring champagne and not be really paying attention? They nearly missed Hazanavicius Best Screenplay nomination and when Best Actor came on, right as he was about to hear "the verdict" , Dujardin grabs a bottle and pours champagne yet again. They were actually paying more attention when the other names were being called. Probably they were nervous -I know- and this was the way they dealt with it.
Many will say I am a bit off the mark here, and maybe you are right. But this video reminded me of the Oscar parties which I no longer attend. I want to watch EVERYTHING undisturbed. I want to watch every acceptance speech and the award for cinematography! Comments can wait. So I watch the Oscars alone and maybe phone a friend who is equally interested during commercials. LOL...

that actor has such a great smile. reminds me of gene kelly.

January 27, 2012 | Unregistered Commenterjimmy

Why are actors like Michelle Williams playing this disingenuous "I didn't even know nominations were today" game? After she's been campaigning this hard? /big, BIG eyeroll/ and indeed, girl, please!

January 27, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterLara

Jimmy: You are right. Dujardin has the perfect look to play this role.
