London Calling. Kate wants Leo to win his Oscar
Monday, January 18, 2016 at 1:00PM The London Film Critics Circle Awards were held last night across the Atlantic as something of a calmer arthouse alternative to the multiplex-lusting Critics Choice Awards here in the States, though they did share one winner: George Miller took Best Director for Mad Max Fury Road. We're trying not to think of him as the frontrunner here at TFE because it would be the most anomalous Best Director win of our lifetimes and too satisfying. Could it actually happen?
Judging on photos of the event, Kate Winslet was the main attraction of the night.

A Fun Titanic Takeaway
Kate Winslet, who can add the London prize to her Golden Globe this year, doesn't seem to be thinking about her own Oscar run for Steve Jobs. Perhaps she doesn't care about a second statue (and Alicia Vikander could be tough to beat -- the advantage of being a leading lady in a supporting category... *sigh*).
With the cameras shoved in her face (seriously back off reporters) Kate is just loving on Leonardo DiCaprio in The Revenant (it's clear where her Oscar vote is going). There are also props to her current co-star Michael Fassbender in Steve Jobs as well.

I want George Miller to win so much too! I really feel like he might be the Ang Lee to Spotlight's Argo. Fingers, toes etc crossed.

Just saw STEVE JOBS last night and boy was Kate great! Absolutely rooting for her.

Anytime a real supporting player gets an award this season it's cause for celebration. I love that Kate Winslet won. Oscar always likes to give it's statues to shiny new actresses, but maybe a few people will look at this and vote for the Best, and True Supporting actress
I'm really looking forward to seeing "The Falling" with Maisie Williams, it's been well reviewed and Mark Kermode at the BBC had it in his top 10. He said Maisie Williams was brilliant.
Written and directed by Carol Morley, it also has Maxine Peake who is a great actress.
Keep an eye out for it.

You seem pretty confident that Vikander is winning. I just can't see that. Maybe because for me the movie is all about Eddie's infinite talent. She doesn't do anything special! I like how the character walks. I definitely prefer her work in Ex Machina.
Sigh...Yes, Kate wld have her 2nd Oscar in her bag if not for cat fraud...Vikander is on the rise now & that is Mara to fence off too....I'm still hopeful for Kate but her chance of winnin is seriously only 1/3 or less.........

Kate looks WAY better than I would if they had a camera and strong light THAT close to my face.
