Curio: "we went skinny dipping and did things that frightened the fish!"

Yes. that's a quote from Steel Magnolias. I apologize as this is entirely unrelated. It happens.

Are you familiar with "Fish Love"? It's a not-for-profit company from Nicholas Röhl and the actress Greta Scacchi. The goal? I'll just quote them here:

to raise awareness of the unsustainable fishing practices that are destroying the the earth's marine ecosystem. Since then, the Fishlove images have succeeded in bringing the subject of over-fishing to the front covers and pages of the world's media many times over.

This year's catch is the adorable Emma Thompson and Greg Wise shot by photographer Jillian Edelstein to promote the endangered. But there's more (slightly nsfw) after the jump...

This year gallery brings us one of our favorite movie couples (above). It's always worth cherishing the fact that sometimes life has a happier ending than art: Emma Thompson married Kate Winslet's untrustworthy suitor from Sense & Sensibility!.

They also got Mark Rylance fresh off his Oscar win posing with a shark. The master thespian is not shy. There's a lot more of him in the movie Intimacy (2001).

And here's Dougray Scott (the original Wolverine before he had to back out of the X-Men giving Hugh Jackman his signature role). I haven't seen him at the movies in so long.... since his brief Arthur Miller role in My Week with Marilyn I think. Where's he been?

And one of our favorite British celebrities Miriam Margolyes, who you should know and love because she's a) hilarious, b) an out and proud lesbian, c) a fine actress d) an amazing talk show guest and e) one of the only actors to speak out against category fraud (she was humorously displeased with Winona Ryder getting a supporting actress nomination for The Age of Innocence when she was right there with her best film role on the sidelines.

You can see more of this year's gallery here and purchase any of these as posters with the money going to this worthy not-for-profit.

Just for fun here's 4 favorite images from other years

Helena Bonham Carter with a big eyed tuna, shot by John Swannell last year

Melanie Laurent with a brown crab shot by Alan Gelati in 2013

O.T. Fagbenle (from Looking) with a John Dory in 2011

and Terry Gilliam with a spider crab.

Am I the only one who thinks Mark Rylance is absolutely adorable?

March 25, 2016 | Unregistered Commenterthefilmjunkie

Thefilmjunkie - u are not alone

Steph - it's because they're trying to raise awareness and that's more likely to get press

I'm amazed that I had never heard of this before today, such brilliant images with some very famous people. Check out the whole gallery, I liked Judi Dench, Julie Christie, Miriam Margolyes, Fiona Shaw, and Helena Bonham Carter the most.

Oh of course, that makes sense LOL. The shots are great but they're also kind of...strange? Like the one with HBC is hard to look at without thinking of bestiality.

This is absolutely THE BEST!

these creatures out of the water kinda promotes their endangerment.

They're naked because the fish are naked and we are all the same...

Greg Wise: underseen, underappreciated...

Whenever Dougray Scott is mentioned, Ever After in parentheses should follow his name...

Paul, good point.

I find this a bit weird- but Mark Rylance does look good naked

March 26, 2016 | Unregistered CommenterJaragon

I am blind from the Mark Rylance image. For the love of God, please put some clothes on.
