The 68th annual Emmy nominations have been announced. As usual the Academy of Television couldn't bring themselves to switch it up much, only making changes in categories where they were forced to do so (like Comedy Actress).

Kimmy Schmidt was nominated again but without two of its funniest players: Anna Camp (Guest) and Jane Krakowski (Supporting)

We lost Julie Bowen for the first time (after 6 noms/ 2 wins), Mayim Bialik (after 4 noms), and Jane Krakowski (nooooo) with Judith Light the only new nominee.

Similarities to Previous Years: Bradley Whitford gets a second consecutive nomination for his Transparent character. And Bob Newhart a 3rd nomination for the Big Bang Theory character for which he's already won once. The big surprise is Martin Mull who has never been nominated despite a long rich history on TV stretching all the way back to Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman in 1976.

Similarities to Previous Year: Tina Fey and Christine Baranski were both nominated in this category last year, Fey in a different show though. Baranski has been up for her Big Bang Theory character 3 previous times.

Those SNL host noms are a total snooze; what a lazy way to fill out guest categories.
Late Night with Samantha Bee got a nod for writing but not for the show itself. Nonsense.
Just noticed Kirsten Dunst and Jean Smart were nominated for Fargo!
Agree with Dave S. Out of all the comedy shows, half of the best acting comes from SNL?!
Gutted for Krakowski. She was better in season 2 than the first.

Nothing is more depressing than seeing Aziz Ansari, 1st nomination, after 7 seasons of Tom Haverford.
You left off my favorite nomination: Louis Anderson for Baskets (Best Supporting Actor in a Comedy)
Don't really watch much comedy .. so not qualified to react.... but they seem pretty much the same.....sort of bogged down!!!!!
Limited series was excellent....
NOT Cuba Gooding, Jr. especially in Leading... although it was about him , the role was supporting!!! He was ridiculous in his emoting!
VERY sad that Connor Jessup in Amercian Crime and Freddie Highmore in Bates Motel were overlooked .. they were better than any of the nominees in their categories!! Oh well!
Glad for Fargo ... hate the idea of American Horror Story ... it was dreadful this year and the acting was dismal ... glad Lady Gaga was not nominated..
Love that Huffington,Paulson and Dunst and Taylor were all nominated ... It has to be a 4 way tie here... they were all GREAT!

I'm also glad Lady Gaga was not nominated for Hotel. If anything the guy who played Liz Taylor shoulda been nominated he was amazing in that role.
Sorry, Tracee Ellis Ross, Laurie Metcalfe, and Ellie Kemper are much more interesting in their roles than Rachel Bloom, who I just dont understand. That show she's on is a mess. Emmy made the right call.
I actually think the noms this year are surprisingly acceptable, esp the recognition for The Americans, which shocked me. It's about. Damn. Time! Some eye-rolls like *Maggie Smith* (again?) and no Krakowski (sad, she was even better this year) but overall a solid line up.
Tracee Ellis Ross is the reason Black-ish works. Good for her getting a nom.
Thank you sweet baby Jesus that The Americans FINALLY got nominated for major awards. It is the best show on tv (IMHO). Although leaving out Frank Langella for his Gabriel is just criminal. He really plays well off Russell and Rhys.
Also, how does Project Runway continue to be nominated? Who is still watching that show?

Tracee. Ellis. Ross. I'd have given her a nomination for her work last season, so I'm glad the Academy caught on this year.

That SNL and Big Bang Theory can just get those Guest Actress Emmy nominations while Kimmy Schmidt's women are just left out to dry is so sad. Amy Sedaris and Anna Camp were funnier than they've ever been, and Kudrow had such a touching episode! How'd they all miss? Krakowski's Emmy-less shelf is such a drag; Years of killing it on two shows and nothing. I'm glad the category's getting shaken up a little, someone had to miss, I just wish it wasn't her.
Brad Whitford plays a completely different character (different country, different era) in this season of Transparent, but he barely registered, so I don't get that nomination.
I know I can't expect much out of The Emmys, and my wish of Tracee Ellis Ross being nominated happened, so I literally can't complain about anything.
And then on top of that, Rupaul was finally nominated. I. just. I can't process it. Even if it took way too long and even if he's never nominated again, at the VERY least, he was nominated once as best reality competition host for DRAG RACE. Ahhh.
I am AGHAST that Jane Krakowski is not nominated!

Face it people. With the abundance of Veep's nom, I believe it will win Comedy Series again. YAY! Matt Walsh's first nom and also Peter MacNicol hilarious performance. I hope Anna Chlumsky wins too.

Master Of None deserves any and all accolades it has received and will continue to receive - brilliant show.
I guess Maisie Williams got nominated to compensate one of the most soporific storylines of the entire series .All the Game of Thrones acting nominations are a joke except for Lena.
Expanding the nominees has actually improved the overall list in the last few years. You're acting like there's an overwhelming amount of shows and performances that were left off by the Emmy's repetitive voting patterns. Not really, especially this year...
