"Here We Go Again..." on this very day two years ago!

Awww, it's Meryl loving on Cher in Mexico City on this exact day (July 17th) two years back...

Do you ever stop to marvel how bananas it is that they killed Meryl off between Mamma Mia! movies? And speaking of those movies have you heard the momentary nonsense last month that 'it's meant to be a trilogy'? Hollywood is losing it during this pandemic.

P.S. Today's date is even name-checked in the movie (though I don't remember this bit)

It's a marvel given the business of film making, but since the sequel was better I'm a-okay with it.

I love their friendship. Two of my favorite ladies.

They were great together in Silkwood!

It really should have been about their relationship....
Sophie's pregnancy could have brought them together again (although it's no less bananas that Cher's only 3 years older than Meryl and playing her mother, but well....)
GREAT MISSED OPPORTUNITY HOLLYWOOD!!!!!

No masks! They're Pro-Trump now.

I'm into the news of a 2nd sequel. Three movies for the three daddies (lol I don't know).

It would be a good opportunity to delve deeper into Dominic Cooper's character's family. Hire a really awesome British dame for his mom. Have them chew scenery with everyone else. More ABBA songs! More shirtless, sun-tanned guys! DONE. What more do you need?

I loved the second one even more than the first one, so I will keep an open mind...
Cher & Meryl, what a friendship and what a team. Maybe when things are better they could host something together...like the Oscars.

Yes, there's no reason to make a third but I don't care. Give me MAMMA 3IA NOW.
I've watched Here We Go Again a lottttttt in quarantine - so comforting.

Always humming with the gratification that they both beat Glenn.

This movie has to be one of the best sequels to a truly dreadful original. I adore this film, but the first one almost made me ill while watching it. LOL

So we'll get the MAMMA MIA! equivalent of THE GODFATHER PART III. Don't we have to wait a few more decades, though?

It's gonna be wild when Cher gets a #1 hit in her seventh consecutive decade.

She has a good shot if she releases any music at all since the dance charts are...generous...with #1's.

Cher and Meryl: lovely as always to see them together.

I was lucky enough to get to attend the London premiere of the second Mamma Mia! film (with my Mum!) and seeing Meryl and Cher was the highlight!

And I'm certainly up for a Mamma Mia version of The Godfather Part III. Andy Garcia can be either Fernando or Vincent Corleone - I don't mind which. And instead of the climax being set at the opera, it could be set at a Cher concert.

Cher's rendition of "Fernando" was the big surprise in that film for me as I've heard the song a million times but her singing it... I found myself moved by it as she just brought a sense of radiance to that song where she kind of makes it her own but also pay tribute to ABBA. Cher will never go away and I don't want her to go away. She's awesome and please, put her in better movies and not shit like Burlesque. She thought it sucked ass too.

thevoid99: I agree with you about Cher's rendition of 'Fernando'. Her voice really suits ABBA.

Burlesque isn't great, but it has two moments Inttrasure: Christina's "I Am a Good Girl" number and the moment when Stanley Tucci gives in and asks his latest one-night stand if he wants to meet up again.

Edward L., we are all retrospecitively jealous of you.

When in Vegas, make sure you see Cher in concert. Because she BROUGHT it. So much fun!

July 17, 2020 | Unregistered Commenterforever1267

We have seen Sonny and Cher together and 3 Cher concerts.

Luckily Glenn is an inevitable competitive Oscar winner, but until that day I hear their humming like the drums of Jumanji.
