La Pfeiffer Set Photos + Superhero Fever Running Amok

Michelle has been spotted filming what appear to be 80s flashbacks on the set of Marvel's Ant Man and the Wasp (July 6th, 2018). We had assumed her role was meant to be a sudden reveal that she's still alive but perhaps it's only retro scenes? Michael Douglas was also on set. They're wearing strange dots on their faces (which are hard to tell in these images) but which indicate that they'll be de-aged later via CGI (like Robert Downey Jr in that Avengers Ultron hologram scene).

Michelle doesn't need any computer help to look unfathomably gorgeous or younger than her years (the woman turns 60 (!) in April. I mean...) but she'd have to be 1980s young for these scenes, hence computer help...

124 days until Oscar...

Just 124 days until Hollywood's High Holy Night, now. Time for a little silly trivia. Only two Best Picture winners have ever been exactly 124 minutes long. Curiously enough, those titles were back-to-back winners: Ordinary People (1980) and Chariots of Fire (1981) both of which beat critically-obsessed-over competition in Raging Bull (1980) and Reds (1981).

Admit it: You heard the Chariots of Fire theme song in your head and visualized Mary Tyler Moore's ice cold mom as soon as you read the titles.

Doc Corner: 'Dawson City: Frozen Time' is a Masterpiece 100 Years in the Making

If you have ever watched a Bill Morrison film, then you will have surely remember him for the way his films appear as if they are deteriorating before your eyes. Best known for works such as Decasia that are assembled out of weathered, beaten and sometimes even partly destroyed reels of film celluloid, Morrison’s films often play with the concept that film – the physical, tactile product of film itself just as much as the broad term for motion pictures as we know them – is not something we should ever be flippant about.

His movies are made out of parts of other movies, its true -- clips and excerpts taken from decaying reels that most could consider at home in a rubbish tip. Many may find his aesthetic challenging, but there is something so delightfully classical about the way he repurposes any image that sits atop a filmstrip. His work breathes new life into old, unwanted, and unused works so that they may be seen anew in a new light, a new form and allow somebody’s hard work to prosper once more...
