Beauty Break: A National Treasure in National Parks

Brad Pitt recently opened up to GQ in a lengthy interview about divorce, drinking, therapy, and his new film War Machine. Interviews like this, which get so personal, are always a a bit of a strange experience if you love movie stars. Should you voraciously read everything about your favorite stars or let the work speak for itself and give their mystique some space to work?

I've never sold that question for myself so I read lengthy profiles/interviews quite erratically.

But one thing that offers pleasure without any such confusion is looking at photos of beautiful stars. So here are some gorgeous pictures of National Treasure Brad Pitt in three of our National Parks, along with a few key quotes from the interviews. Did you know what Brad's favorite among his own films is? It's not what I expected.

David Fincher Enlists For "World War Z 2"

Chris here. Looks like the sequel to 2013 surprise megahit (and famously troubled production) World War Z is finally a go - and just landed some major directorial heft. After many rumors of star Brad Pitt's wooing the director were shrugged off, David Fincher is signing on to the film.

Already some Fincher fans and stuffy types are turning up their noses at the news, but it is a potentially inspired choice...

Tilda's Two Teasers: War Machine & Okja

Don't bother telling us that Tilda Swinton isn't the lead in these new Netflix movies! She's always a leading lady. Tilda approaches the mic in Okja AND War Machine. The rest is noise but for our worry that no movies with big stars will ever go theatrical again with Netflix around

War Machine premieres on May 26th and Okja premieres June 28th.

P.S. Is this a silver fox look on Brad Pitt or as blonde as Seven Years in Tibet (1997) or is this some mashup of the two?

Three Fittings: High Glamour and Low Spies in "Allied"

[New Series! Three Fittings will celebrate costume design in the movies. The number is necessary self-restraint for we love the art of costuming too much. We kicked off last week with La La Land icymi.]

Allied begins strongly with a weirdly lulling quiet parachute descent into the Moroccan dessert. Moments later the man from the sky is all wrapped up a stone blue headscarf, his face obscured, presumably to protect it from the sun and sand. This obscures the movie star within which is never a good thing so the scarf loses its functionality almost immediately. It's suddenly an accessory rather than a tool, just another texture and a complimentary color to the fetching earth tone ensemble on a ridiculously handsome man walking toward a car far off in the distance.

Who knew that an empty road in the desert could double as a runway?

Costume designer Joanna Johnston clues you in immediately that you're looking at a movie that's aiming for the glamorous illusion of Old Hollywood...
