Happy 25th anniversary (again) to Michelle & David

We celebrated Michelle Pfeiffer & David E Kelley's 25th wedding anniversary on its proper day back in November but it's worth pointing out that the notoriously private actress has suddenly joined Instagram! On the day she joined I must have received 100 private messages about it. Y'all know me so well. So far she's posted three things: a Catwoman clip, a video of her cat licking her face (the cuteness!), and this photo of her 25th anniversary dinner. P.S. Honestly, we thought she was the least likely of all iconic actresses to ever join social media.  Care to conjecture who convinced her to do this? Kids? Management? Maleficent 2's PR team? Superstar peers?

We're all animal lovers here at TFE, so we asked contributors and friends to talk about their favourite non-humans from the year's movies. 

To show love to all Film Experience readers, whether you be a cat or a dog person, we dedicate this list to two extraordinary creatures: That elusive cat in Burning, who may or may not be a figment of our imaginations but sure feels real since we can't shake him, and Bradley Cooper's own dog Charlie playing Jackson Maine's dog in A Star is Born. Like Lady Gaga, Charlie is essentially playing himself and like Lady Gaga he's doing it fabulously. Where's his Oscar buzz?

Not every memorable screen animal was covered in the following list -- our apologies especially to that tragically outmatched racoon in Incredibles 2 -- so do add to it in the comments. Here are our seven favourite beastly movie stars of 2018...

Open Thread

What's on your cinematic mind? Do tell in the comments! I was mostly thinking about three things today...

1. Why it is that some great film stars transfer so superbly to the stage and others do not? 
2. The way you never can tell if a film is going to linger or not because sometimes films you loved you dont find yourself thinking about a lot afterwards and other films you were a little cool on might keep popping back into your brain - do you know what I mean?
3. Melissa's cat in Can You Ever Forgive Me?, Bradley & Gaga's dog in A Star is Born, and Viola's dog in Widows. I love when movie characters have pets. I think way more movie characters should have pets. Real people have pets so why not movie characters?

They're sisters. I'm in love. In a different post on Kidman's Instagram she says "I've always been a cat girl." Well, all the best people are!
