WINNERS - 10th Annual Team Experience Awards

From the team...

We couldn't get Jane Fonda to read the winners, but we at least have this image.

The envelope. please! The time has come to reveal the winners for the Team Experience Awards. When it came to the nominations, three movies each earned ten nominations a piece (Dune, The Power of the Dog, West Side Story). Did one of them emerge victorious, or did a David defeat these three Goliaths? Let's dive into the winners...

ASC and CAS nominations: 'Dune' & 'Power of the Dog' make both lists

by Nathaniel R

The American Society of Cinematographers and the Cinema Audio Society have released their nominations for outstanding work in film and television last year. As with the Art Directors yesterday, there are surprise omissions of notable contenders. West Side Story, for example, is not nominated for cinematography while another musical tick, tick...BOOM! misses with the sound guild. It's all leading up to an Oscar nomination morning that could be volatile.  The full list of nominations with notes after the jump...

10th Annual Team Experience Award NOMINEES

From the Team...

Which movie does the Film Experience team like the best? Paul, Phil and Maria are all anxiously awaiting.Few people love awards as much as The Film Experience team does. That’s why we can’t resist having our own awards announcement. The 10th Annual Team Experience Awards nominations have been revealed. These nominees were voted on by all the writers at The Film Experience, sans Nathaniel (who will be revealing his own Film Bitch Awards separately). Three movies dominated our ballots, receiving 10 votes apiece – Dune, The Power of the Dog  and West Side Story. The team will be voting on the winners, which will be revealed next Wednesday, January 25th.

Check out the nominees after the jump...

USC Scripter Awards honor "Dopesick", Dune", "Passing" and more...

by Nathaniel R

The USC Scripter Awards are an annual event that is a gala fundraiser for the USC Libraries. The nominations are chosen by committee. They specifically honor the adaptations of printed works as well as the original authors. As such it's usually novels and plays that are honored. We're thrilled that Rebecca Hall's smart adaptation of Passing finally got some love. We don't know if West Side Story was ineligible but given that it's primarily canon due to its incredible musical score, it might not have felt literary enough in its original form to qualify? The nominations for film and television are after the jump...

Visual Effects Society: "Dune" and "Shang-Chi" lead among the Oscar hopefuls

by Nathaniel R

Dune Part One looks like the unsurprising leader going into the 20th annual Visual Effects Society Awards with six nominations. Shang Chi  trailed with four citations. (They have animated categories, too, and Encanto did very well in those races, scoring six nods). These guild prizes give us clues as to what Oscar's VFX branch might also like. Oscar has only one visual effects category, of course, while VES has several, since it's their whole purpose. Here's the list of nominations and aa guide to how the two correlated this year...
