The Keeping Hours (2017) Hmmm. Carrie Coon (♥︎) and Lee Pace (♥︎) in a supernatural haunted house movie -- how have we not heard of this one? *does quick google search* ah, no theatrical release, that's how. Should we watch?
Jorge continues to look into the pilot episodes of the Best Series contenders before the Emmys on Sept 17th
When we discuss pilot episodes, we often talk about the importance of introducing the world and the characters for the first time to an audience: the opening shot of an episode, their first line of dialogue, or how the characters are described when they appear on screen. First impressions are crucial.
However, the final image of a pilot is arguably just as important as the first one. It is the thing that will grasp the audience’s attention for the last time and make them want to tune in to the next episode (or not). It is also often the moment that sets up the story arc for the rest of the series and offers a glimpse of where the main storyline will lead...

Exit Video It's another teaser for Matthew Weiner's new series The Romanoffs. I'm soooo excited for this because I love Weiner AND I have no idea what to expect really even after watching this. Looks like the kind of show that might have instant takes which prove incredibly wrongheaded once you see the show develop.

Remember when Netflix used to get recent movies and classics? Now they seem to be exclusively in the business of streaming things that are between 5-20 years old only... with the obvious exception of their original programming, cheap foreign tv series, and straight to streaming indie stuff that wasn't cut out for theatrical.
LYRA!
The Golden Compass (2007) Have you ever read this book? It's fantastic and bold. The movie is sadly a compromised rendition but it's still a bit tragic that they didn't finish filming the trilogy. Nicole Kidman was a sensaysh "Mrs Coulter" at least. Whatever happened to Dakota Blue Richards? Remember what a surprise it was when this one beat the first Transformers movie to the Visual FX Oscar?!
