The Oscar Week

In this weekly feature from Murtada we will follow the Oscar contenders and examine how their many interviews and appearances impact their chances. This week we check in with Emma Stone, Octavia Spencer, Ryan Reynolds, and Michelle Williams.

Emma Stone
It seems every week there is some event or interview with one of the stars of La La Land. That campaign is going on full throttle to maintain the film’s frontrunner status...

"Girls" Coming to An End

Chris here, with the beginning of the end for one of our HBO favorites. Lost in the shuffle of the latest in Lena Dunham's foot-in-mouth syndrome (something about abortion, I skipped the clickbait), is that the final season of Girls is upon us. You will remember that the previous fifth season was the show's very best, a peak for a show that has only consistently improved. How will the show top those creative (and Emmy-ignored) heights?

When we left off, Hannah and Jessa have yet to make amends over Adam, Shoshana was finally getting her career in order with Ray's coffee shop, and Marnie's tour was looking shaky. Now we have a season trailer to hint at how things might shake out! Girls' final season premieres on February 12, one week ahead of actress extravaganza Big Little Lies - Sundays are all about the ladies on HBO.

Which Girl do you think will get it together in season six?

Christmas Classics: "Mixed Nuts" (1994)

Team Experience has been sharing their favorite Christmas flicks. Here's Chris...

I'm going to make the assumption that most of you haven't seen my favorite Christmas movie, Nora Ephron's Mixed Nuts. "Classic" may be a stretch as it was both a box office and critical bomb, and has since been lost to time. The film has all of the makings of a cult following that has yet to materialize: a completely silly premise, insane moments, and a cast quite literally full of familiar faces. No really - the main cast includes Steve Martin, Madeline Kahn, Juliette Lewis, Liev Schreiber, Adam Sandler, and Rita Wilson. Anthony LaPaglia wears a Santa suit most of the movie. Even the throwaway parts are played by Rob Reiner and Joely Fisher.

But the film is an utter daffy farce with even more off the wall subplots than famous faces. Let's do a short run down of what makes the film so crazy and special...

Most Coveted Things from 2016 Films

Year in Review. Every afternoon, a new wrap-up. Today Murtada with a wish list...

What did you covet the most on the big or small screen this year? Was it a costume, a prop, or even a place or living thing? Here is my personal list in case you haven't yet completed your Christmas shopping.

Brad Pitt and Marion Cotillard’s white linen costumes in Allied
Brad Pitt and Marion Cotillard play a Canadian and a French spy respectively, who meet in Casablanca. They take an excursion to the desert outside the city right before completing their very dangerous assignment. They practise shooting with firearms, they bond, they fall in lust. All the while wearing gorgeous white linen on khakis. It must be the gorgeous desert. Or maybe the longing. Or could be just how breezy and stylish these linen costumes are.

Lunchboxes, records, and living things after the jump...
