Say What! Actors Watching Meryl Streep

Chris here with more Globes afterglow. What's there to even say about Meryl's stupendous acceptance speech when her beautiful rally cry was words enough? Instead, let's bask in the glow of actors basking in the glow of Meryl Streep. Here's a look at the room she captured and some guess as to what everyone was thinking:

Yes, Meryl. I was born in Italy, but my aunt used to live in Paris.

Hey girl. This speech is so great even I forgot I was a Canadian.

Just wait til the thirsty gays find out that Meryl knows my name now.

*The Cool Table chears*

My next Globe shall be won for playing Meryl and recreating this speech for HBO.

...

Tell us in the comments below what your favorite screencapped star is thinking!

I almost fell off my chair with that Dev Patel comment. Love it!!!

I really did love the beginning of her speech as she seemingly listed people's place of birth. And then seeing everyone have the same "HOLY SHIT MERYL STREEP JUST SAID MY NAME!" face.

January 10, 2017 | Unregistered CommenterRyan T.

I think every actor had the same 3 reactions. First they were, "Aw Meryl, we all love her"...(she knows where I was born)
Then the reaction changed, the room went dead quiet and they were "Wow, she really is amazing & is saying serious stuff"...
And when she finished, they we were all "That's why she's Dame Meryl Streep and no one else is."
In 5 minutes her grace and eloquence proved to the world why she is so very impressive and definitely not "over-rated".

Btw the only speeches that come close to having that affect on an audience that I can remember have been Cary Grant, Laurence Olivier, Audrey Hepburn, and Robert Altman.
Very few icons are as articulate as they are beloved.

I love Meryl. Sadly I visited Bette Midler's FB page and the Trump trolls are giving her and Meryl heaps. I pray some psycho Trump supporter doesn't carry out their threats. We need more Meryls. Bettes, Barbaras, Chers, Whoopis etc etc etc. These intelligent, beautiful, talented women are sorely needed in the world right now.

January 10, 2017 | Unregistered CommenterBette Streep

Denzel looked glum all night.

January 10, 2017 | Unregistered CommenterMARKGORDONUK

MERYL STREEP!!!
I love how she randomly lists almost every person's places of birth lol
She is most definitely NOT overrated, dear orange turd

January 10, 2017 | Unregistered CommenterCraver

I feel like the first picture is the entire room consenting silently to follow her to the ends of the earth. And really, who wouldn't?

January 10, 2017 | Unregistered Commentereurocheese

The Paulson caption was pretty great, Chris!

She's not here but she was mentioned and the camera did, at some point cut to her, so,
Ruth Negga: "Done with *just* interracial romances. Next film, me and Meryl will go same-sex *and* May-December!"

I wish Isabelle had been mentioned so I could assume she thought "I was actually raised in Mount Olympous with the other gods."

January 10, 2017 | Unregistered CommenterJames T

Also, that was the second time Isabelle Huppert watched Maeryl Streep getting an honorary award. First time was when she got a Cesar award but I can't find a link now. I think it was about 13 years ago.

January 10, 2017 | Unregistered CommenterJames T

Meryl didn't even say his name. Such a class act.
Thank you so much for this moment for an eternity!

January 10, 2017 | Unregistered CommenterSonja

Nobody could have delivered that speech except Streep. Such courage and command and dignity and grace. How lucky we are!

January 10, 2017 | Unregistered Commenterbrandz

Chris, that Sarah Paulson caption takes me over the moon. NICE!
