Didn't u just die at that "facts are facts" /  "all right, brown cow" / "your back is ashy" / "your talent is bottom two" banter with Monique-Asia-Monet early in the episode? The season 10 queens have such sharp friendly-but-competitive chemistry. And there's so much bonafide talent that there's already no filler remaining! We revert to the often anticlimactic "Snatch Game" next week but we've been pleased to see the show coming up with new angles and challenges lately. This episode began with the hilarious "sitting on a secret" game. Asia O'Hara proved the most sensitive bottom, accurately guessing the most things she was sitting on whilst blindfolded -- even a fax machine! It ended with a hat challenge where most of them had great looks though Asia's dandelion look was tops.

Inbetween those delights the maxi-challenge was even better as the nine queens had to hold three mock Drag Con panels to shill for RuPaul's latest entrepeneurial success...

First Look: Tom Hiddleston as Hank Williams

Manuel here, asking the very important question:

Is Tom Hiddleston the greatest Hat Actor of his generation? 

The question came to me as I got a first look at I Saw the Light, the upcoming biopic centered on country-western single Hank Williams, where Hiddleston will be showcasing his singing skills, as well as proving yet again that there's yet to be a hat he cannot pull of with ease and style.

Exhbit A:

If Hiddleston in a white ten gallon hat isn't enough to entice you, perhaps the supporting cast will. Elizabeth Olsen (!), Cherry Jones (!!), Bradley Whitford, Maddie Hasson, and Wren Schmidt round up the cast of Marc Abraham's film. I Saw the Light opens on November 27th. 

Between this and Crimson Peak, Loki is going to be mighty busy this Fall, don't you think?

1:44:50 We fade up from a kiss to a sign reading "Kerrith Board School 1872." It seems so exact it made me wonder if this is a real place, but a quick google comes up with nothing. I assume this, like most everything save the more obvious natural exteriors (the beaches filmed on the California coast, for example), was a set. It seems an odd detail to so prominently focus upon though. My guess is Hitch liked the connection to The Past, with it hanging over everyone – he was never exactly the most subtle with his themes.

In the Hitchcock/Truffaut book the two filmmakers discuss how "the location of [Manderley] is never specified in a geographical sense; it's completely isolated." Hitch actually talks at length about how he sees this possibility of isolation as an "American" thing -- that if Rebecca had been filmed in Great Britain he'd have shown the countryside surrounding the house but filming it in America gave him the possibility of this "abstraction." It certainly helps that whenever we’re seeing the mansion itself it’s always a miniature, and not an actual location. Anyway, here we are... Where ever here is!
