If you do your list advocating Honorary recipients this year, please include Paul Schrader.

I love Madonna and Gaga, so I hope the fact that they're friends (?) means that everyone can calm down about how they interrelate. They are both great.

I've never been so happy to conclude an Oscar year. On to Greta!

Incredible to see it all laid out like this. The Film Experience has been my refuge this week. Thanks, Team.

Thank you for another great coverage of the Oscars - the best on the web.

I feel ashamed to ask, but here goes; When will the predictions start for next year?

Thanks to the TFE team for all of their hard work!

The Glenn Close conversation is not over. I feel like we have a new version of Meryl's 3rd Oscar speculation. And of course Amy Adams and Annette Bening are supposed to be contender's in this year's race.

March 1, 2019 | Unregistered Commenter/3rtful

@/3rtful. Just go and enjoy movies and don't be such a fanatic!

March 1, 2019 | Unregistered Commenterrdf

Damn. Schrader sounded like an asshole in that FB post. Never learn too much about your heroes.

March 1, 2019 | Unregistered CommenterYe

/3rtful they’re all fated to be competitive winners, just be patient, breathe and enjoy the films.

Glenn Close has no releases in 2019. I hope we can talk about some other actresses this year. The discussion surrounding her Oscar brought out the worst in everyone.

By the way, if you haven't seen me in Private Life, you should check it out!

March 2, 2019 | Unregistered CommenterKathryn Hahn

Glenn Close spends Xmas eve with trash. Somehow this strengthens Colman winning for a better performance.

March 2, 2019 | Unregistered CommenterHoopla

Damn immortalised truck stop beanie.

March 2, 2019 | Unregistered CommenterEw Michelle

Just in, Rob Ashford will have directed a Best Actress Oscar winning film musical in a year or so.

March 2, 2019 | Unregistered CommenterJulio

OMG Close could win and be the best out of the five nominees! It's the way she would want and deserve.

March 2, 2019 | Unregistered CommenterPaul

So that Madonna/Gaga photo is real??? Thought it was fanmade.

March 2, 2019 | Unregistered CommenterJeffy

Jeffy -- nope it's real. It's from Guy Oseary's Oscar after party

March 2, 2019 | Registered CommenterNATHANIEL R

The worst set of acting winners ever. The power of mediocrity stands tall again in Hollywood. #canceltheoscars

March 2, 2019 | Unregistered CommenterCraver

I know Malek’s and Ali’s performances are divisive, but I thought Colman’s and King’s performances were generally loved?

March 2, 2019 | Unregistered Commenter?

I LOVE those site, but I'm kind of relieved Oscars season is over. These threads get a bit frightening around the Oscars, frankly, with too many posters being rude to each other, weaving complex, rigid narratives, insisting that those narratives are absolute truth and commonly held beliefs, and finding reasons to hate on others and not letting go of it. It seems like there's very little room for public figures that are being discussed (or other posters!) to make errors or, you know--be complicated and imperfect. Add to that all of the comments about feeling "devastated" and "enraged" by the results of awards shows where fabulously wealthy and privileged individuals pat each other on the back and give each other gold statues, and it's just a bit exhausting and over-the-top. There's always that element here, but it's REALLY pronounced during Oscars season.

I really appreciate all of the hard work that Nathaniel and other writers put into this site. Looking forward to things cooling off for a bit!

@Kathryn Hahn: Don't worry. Glenn will be back in 2020 with "Sunset Boulevard"! Then we'll get to annoy you all over again.

March 2, 2019 | Unregistered CommenterIan

JJM - Agreed!

March 2, 2019 | Unregistered CommenterPhilip H.

Given that Paramount have made no official announcement on SB I think we should not yet count our chickens.... all the news stories have ‘confirmed’ and ‘announced’ but I have yet to see by who.

March 2, 2019 | Unregistered CommenterMatt

Matt, if Glenn after all these years and all her connections cannot get Sunset Blvd over the line from here, it's really on her.

March 3, 2019 | Unregistered CommenterIan

JJM - Well-said.

? - They are! @oscarrunnerup has been doing surveys on twitter to see where they rank among the other wins this decade. Colman ranked second in their survey (behind Portman and, yes, ahead of Blanchett); King ranked third (behind Lupita and Davis). It's not just a recency effect, because Ali ranked eighth.

March 3, 2019 | Unregistered CommenterSuzanne

Well done TFE! Thanks for being here.
