Thanks for updating! More and more I'm feeling like it's going to be Driver for Best Actor and possibly Johansson for Best Actress. It's feeling like Zellweger has lost some steam. The Globes and SAG results will be interesting. I personally loved Zellweger but thought the film was VERY weak. I don't know if she can overcome that, when combined with the fact that she's been out of the limelight for so long and she's already won an Oscar. If Little Women was less of an ensemble, Ronan might have more of a shot, but it's not feeling like her year, either. She was great, but Pugh was truly the standout.

Johansson has been picking up more and more critics awards, she's a huge star who has made the industry a lot of money, and she really delivered in 2019. She seems to be gaining a lot of momentum. My hope for Zellweger is that the acclaim she has justifiably received for Judy results in more interesting projects for her--it looks like she doesn't have anything lined up yet, which I hope changes.

Luckily this year the frontrunners are all good movies, so the only thing I give a f***k is that Banderas and Lupita are in

I honestly have stopped caring about anything this season except Laura Dern getting her Oscar.

Didn’t feel like Renee or Joaquin did themselves favors tonight. And yet for Taron and awkwafina it might be too late.

I hope you're right about Sandler Nathaniel. What a performance.

Bold that you have Sandler, De Niro, and Pryce all making it! I have them all missing. I think Leo is close to a lock, considering it's such a high-profile, well-liked, and widely-seen film, and very much a buddy picture. Bale is an Academy favorite these days. And Taron sneaks in fifth on the great timing of the GG win right in the Oscar voting period (less confident on this one!). For the record: Phoenix/Driver/LDC/Bale/Egerton.

*Correction to my post: Banderas not Pryce!

Just to correct... Banderas was already EFA winner (he is listed as nominee only) and now he also won the NSFC (but lost the Globe Drama). BAFTA nomination may be coming in 30 minutes, too.

It is a pity, people is going to embrace at Oscar (as the Globe) the showy and baity Joker role rather than the controlled, subtle and challenging Salvador Mallo / Pedro Almodóvar that Banderas creates under the direction of one of the BEST actors directors to ever grace the film screen.
