Damien Chazelle's Hollywood opus (of some sort or another), Babylon, wasn't ready for the fall festivals so we had no clue when we'd get our first taste. Thankfully today Vanity Fair ended our long drought of information, visual and otherwise, with several lux images from the film. Naturally then it's time to discuss our thoughts, yours and mine (as they come to me). Yours go in the comments. Please don't be shy. The team misses socializing with you in this way. Full List of Creative Arts Emmy Winners: Who's Up & Who's Down?

The most wins from the ceremonies were “Adele: One Night Only,” “The Beatles: Get Back,” “The White Lotus,” “Stranger Things” and “Euphoria,” all with five wins.

This weekend, the Creative Arts Emmys handed out 93 awards over two nights. Many exciting categories produced great winners, ranging from former President Barack Obama to a posthumous award for Chadwick Boseman. There is so much talent in the TV industry and it’s always fascinating to scroll through all the winners in each category (even if the classifications aren’t always as uniform as us awards show fans would like).

On top of that, one can also use these races to help predict what will happen during the Primetime Emmy Awards. It’s not a one-for-one match that whoever wins the most Creative Arts Emmys will win Drama or Comedy Series. However, it does provide a good barometer of how the race is shaping up heading into the final stretch. The Primetime Emmy Awards airs next Monday, September 12th at 8pm EST/5pm PST on NBC, while also streaming on Peacock. Let’s look at who’s up and who’s down following this weekend’s awards...

Venice at Home – Day 7: Between Reverie and Realism

In 1986, Joanna Hogg presented her thesis film at the National Film and Television School. Unlike the Sunderland photographs and experimental super-8 footage that had won her a place to study, Caprice feels like a repudiation of reality altogether. The short considers the Alice in Wonderland-esque journey of a mousy young woman through the pages of her favorite fashion magazine, all rendered in stylized staging and haute-couture. That work marked another's cinematic debut besides Hogg – Caprice was Tilda Swinton's first appearance on film. The schoolmates turned longtime friends turned artistic collaborators present their latest project at this year's Venice Film Festival – The Eternal Daughter, where the actress plays a double role.

Incredibly, "Top Gun Maverick" returns to the top of the box office chart

Top Gun Maverick returned to the #1 position (more on that in a bit) and rereleases of two of the biggest hits of all time, Jaws (1975) and Spider-Man No Way Home (2020) both did well again over the quiet  Labor Day Weekend (which is rarely a big movie weekend)...
