Cannes Red Carpet Finale: Tilda, Adèle, Regina, Sharon, Gemma...

by Nathaniel R

As the 74th annual Cannes Film Festival recedes into the past, can we all agree that even after all these years, Tilda Swinton remains the most exciting red carpet icon? Consider that she chased that blue eye ribbon, with a frankenstein-pieced metallic look and an exquisitely tailored blue suit, then a red dog collar, and to close out the festival went with this cavalcade of androgynous billowing white pieces.

And because her face deserves exquisite fashion, too, she paired them with a different improbably shaped hairdo each time for good measure. She always keeps us guessing. The only thing you can safely predict about Tilda at each event is that she'll be memorable.

Yes No Maybe So: "The Eternals"

by Nathaniel R

Gemma Chan gets top billing (!!!) in "The Eternals"We had a full year off of the Marvel Cinematic Universe thanks to COVID-19. But they're about to kick off their next long run towards, presumably, another epic decade-in-the-making event like "Avengers: Endgame". We don't yet know which narratives will be instrumental in that build-up but we do know that the MCU is taking a turn towards the magical, the mutant, and the outerspace, with a lot of sorcerers and aliens and outer space adventures upcoming. The Eternals aren't exactly aliens, but close enough, as they are otherworldly in their powers and temperament and have been living undetected amongst humans for centuries.

Let's Yes No and Maybe So ™ the new trailer after the jump...

Review: "Let Them All Talk"

by Christopher James

Imagine a cruise ship movie starring Meryl Streep, Candice Bergen, Dianne Wiest and Lucas Hedges. With five Oscars, 26 Oscar nominations and 10 Emmy wins between them, Let Them All Talk was poised for greatness just on its logline alone. The new HBO Max film may sound like the perfect fluff while at home, but that would ignore the film’s not-so-secret ingredient. With director Steven Soderbergh at the helm, he steers the film away from madcap and into more contemplative, but far less calm, waters. Let Them All Talk may move more glacially than expected. Yet, what we’re left with is a thornier and more interesting look at a decades long friendship filled with fractures.

A renowned author, Alice (Meryl Streep) learns that she is receiving a prestigious award in England (“it’s not even given out every year,” she reminds everyone she encounters). Ever the diva, Alice wants to travel by style and not by plane...

A Decade of Oscar Fashion: Top 10 Looks

by Cláudio Alves

Despite dwindling ratings and ever-growing criticisms, the Academy Awards ceremony is still one of Hollywood's grandest nights. For Oscar enthusiasts, it's like Christmas. For fashion lovers, it's a glamour fest like few others. As we look back at a decade of past ceremonies, we can't help but be dazzled again by the stylish wonders we saw parading through the red carpet each golden night. Since we love list-making, it seems fit to consider such a topic through the lenses of a top 10, elaborating on what were the most memorable and beautiful outfits of Oscar's last decade.

Before we get to the very best, we must celebrate some honorable mentions. From Billy Porter's take on a classic tuxedo to Quvenzhané Wallis' puppy purse, the last ten years were made more glamourous by these Hollywood beauties…

Marvel At This

by Jason Adams

I know Nathaniel finds endless superhero casting rumor speculation a little tedious, and I do a lot of the time myself as well. But we all can make an exception right now just so we get the chance to stare at Gemma Chan for a second, right? The world needs more Gemma Chan to stare at. Thankfully Marvel seems to agree...
