Three Questions for Nicole Kidman's Birthday

We went all out for Nicole Kidman's 50th birthday last year with 50 Appropriate Ways to Celebrate so this year on her 51st (happy birthday diva!) we'll keep it simpler.

Answer me these questions three in the comments:

  1. What's your favorite performance of hers that isn't from her legend-making 2001-2004 run (i.e. The Others-Moulin Rouge!-The Hours-Cold Mountain-Dogville-Birth what a genius run that was!)
  2. What single scene -- minus the opera seen in Birth --pops into your head the most when her name is invoked?
  3. What's a performance of hers that you haven't seen (she works so much you're surely missing something!) that you're most curious about?

and if you're on twitter go really crazy and do the 10 question meme

Stage and Screen: "The Band's Visit"

Hey Tri-state area readers! Only a few of you have come out to Show-Score's Stage & Screen events this spring that I've been moderating. Here's one last opportunity for you.

I'll be interviewing Tony-nominated director David Cromer and Tony-nominated Book writer Itamar Moses of "The Band's Visit" this Sunday at 3:00 PM just before a screening of the movie that inspired the Tony nominated musical. We'll be talking about translating the film for the stage and then we'll all watch the film!

If you've never seen the Israeli film The Band's Visit (2007), you really must. It's quite charming and it stars the late great Ronit Elkabetz (of Late Marriage and Gett fame) and was a sleeper hit at US arthouses in 2008. It also won 8 Ophirs (the Israeli Oscar) in its year including Best Actress. You can get tickets here.

The Film Experience is (mostly) on vacation.

by Nathaniel

Heads up everyone. Aside from a few intermittent pieces, we're taking a post Oscar break (for the first time in herstory!) for recuperation and HQ revisions. We return to full content mode once you've had a chance to see Isle of Dogs, Pacific Uprising, and Unsane (for those weirdos who use actual dates as calendar rather than movies that's March 26th or so).

If you'd like to be notified of our return, please sign up to for the newsletter on facebook or right here below which will begin going out weekly shortly after our return!

The newsletter will feature random exclusives plus utterly non-fancy but thus more frequently updated Oscar charts. Why are we doing a newsletter you might ask? Well, various potential advertisers keep asking if we have one and we're behind the times on that front! We have to drum up more advertising or get more donations (see sidebar) to survive so we're working on revamps to make ourselves more attractive to them...

COMING IN APRIL: Tully, Avengers Infinity War, The 1970 Supporting Actress Smackdown (so get to watching: Airport, Five Easy Pieces, The Landlord, and M*A*S*H), William Holden Centennial Celebration, Where is Kyra?, You Were Never Really Here and all the randomness you've come to love or at least tolerate.
