10 Days til Oscar... The Past 10 Years of Stats

Happy Valentine's Day y'all ❤️. It's officially 10 days until the Oscars so it's a perfect time to go list crazy and look at the past 10 years of Oscar honors (2008-2017) for multiple top tens, don't you think? Not that we need excuses to go list-crazy. We make them up when they don't present themselves!  How have the past ten years been for you? We hope you'll share in the listing fun. In addition to ranking the Oscar winners we've notated whether the same achievements medalled in our own annual film bitch awards that year.

With regards to JLaw's Oscar- nominated performances: Joy>Winter's Bone>American Hustle>Silver Linings Playbook. I agree with the low-ranking but I might place Sandra Bullock's The Blind Side at no.10 instead and JLaw at 10.

Patricia Arquette's Boyhood is ranked abit low...would have placed it at no.4 or 3.

I'm conflicted about whether Colman or Close should get the Oscar. The former is more showy and is in a more superior film. But we don't want to deny Glenn Close her 7th bid.

Oh I meant Jlaw at 9 and Bullock at 10.

Nathaniel, HOW is this not podcast-worthy?????

Totally agreed with you ranking JLaw last - the worst Oscar win of all time. All Harvey's bad work.

Woah, my rankings would be surprisingly similar. Though I'd rank Cruz slightly above Mo'Nique (glad you also appreciate both performances).

I'd also rank Lawrence at the bottom, though I'd have Portman, Streep, & McDormand well above Emma Stone (though let's be real, none of them should've won).

My favorite winners from the last 10 years:

...uh, The Artist? What a bland list.
Dujardin
Blanchett
Plummer
Cruz

Roma will easily top my list if it wins.

Sean Penn - that performance just brings me joy everytime I think of it. And so unexpected.

Mahershala Ali is the new Chistoph Waltz. What a lazy choice if he wins again.

They should change the category names to Best Actress in a Good Film, Best Supporting Actor in a Good Film, etc.

Jennifer Lawrence in dead last for 'Silver Linings Playbook'--exactly where she deserves to be! That Oscar win is one of the least deserved in the history of the Academy. And she was even worse the following year in 'American Hustle.'

Love that Sean Penn is #1 in Best Actor. He was superb.
