Best Oscar Tweets

Live awards shows prompt sure-fire tweetstorms and usually well into the following day to. There were a lot of Oscar themed tweets to choose from Sunday night and on hangover day. We've curated several great ones for you but we should warn you that none will probably match Jordan Peele's twofer.

We've curated several great ones for you but we should warn you that none will probably match Jordan Peele's twofer above. Get Out will be hard to top but we'll love to see him try since he's brilliant.

After the jump some Dunkirk ribbing, Sally Kirkland's ballsy proclamation, Post Oscar crashing, and other random funny, thought-provoking or celebrity-laden tweets. So give it a look...

Ranking the Oscar Clips

by Ben Miller

Oscar clips are a fun wrinkle of a ceremony.  Who could forget Cate Blanchett’s reaction to her Elizabeth: The Golden Age clip?  The actors and actresses can seem mortified or proud of anywhere inbetween, and it’s part of the appeal of the clips.  The clips preceding each of the categories ranged from brilliant to downright weird.  Let’s rank them 20-1…

Same, Greta

I love him.

Should Greta eventually win an Oscar in the future, 'twould only be fair to cut to Guillermo, cluthching his heart and professing his earnest reciprocated love for Greta. Guillermo was the night's biggest winner, but Greta's affection may have been the biggest prize of all.

Three Cheers for Jordan Peele

Chris here with some quick affection for one of the heroes of the season, Jordan Peele. While some (including yours truly) had predicted a Best Picture win for Get Out and its timely instant classic, it ended up being the other genre mashup to take the top prize. After Saturday's big win at the Indie Spirits and the rapturous standing ovation that greeted Peele's Best Original Screenplay win, it certainly looked like it might go all the way and you'd have to imagine it was a very close miss.

But the prize that Peele did win shouldn't go without its own celebration, triumphing in perhaps the tightest race of the night. As Nathaniel already pointed out, it's the category's first winner for an African American and horror film. Remember this time last year when people questioned if a horror film from a comedy outsider could even stay in the conversation? This win makes those reductive talking points look quite silly and serves as a trailblazer in more ways than one. Whatever Peele has coming next, you'd be a fool to doubt him any more.

Beauty vs Beast: Oscar's Best Bits

Jason from MNPP here, nursing my annual Oscars hangover but mostly feeling just fine about last night's winners. (The high I got off of James Ivory's Elio Shirt carried me through the whole show, honestly.) As far as a production the show had its highs (loved that cut quartz set) and its lows (really not feeling that war movie montage) but it's the two stand-out visual gags of the evening that will probably stand the test of time are the subjects of this week's "Beauty vs Beast" poll...

PREVIOUSLY We've got to give Jennifer Lawrence some credit because she actually held her own on The Film Experience against no less fierce an opponent than queen goddess mother Michelle Pfeiffer herself - Michelle still won last week's mother!-themed poll (of course) with 70% of the vote, but it would've been way worse for most mortals. Still, said Brad:

"Give me a movie where Michelle Pfeiffer taunts and tortures Jennifer Lawrence for six or more hours and I'll be happy forever."
