Open Thread. Multiple Screenings?

Have you seen any movie, at home or in theaters, more than once this calendar year? I was looking over my Letterboxd account and realizing how useful it would be to track my viewing if I actually updated it daily. But I don't rewatch a lot of stuff. From January 1st through the right now, that's only five for me: Captain America: The Winter Soldier and Gone Girl (twice each in theaters), Under the Skin (once in theaters, once at home) and Burlesque (two days in a row on cable. shut up, I love it).

How about you? And if you haven't what are you dying to see again?

What's on your cinematic mind?

While we've been film-festing, what have been doing? Tell us about your latest movie adventure. I'll start: I accidentally watched First Wives Club again the other day and though it's a really bad (but fun) movie in a lot of ways the ladies are pretty hilarious. Goldie Hawn just kills in her big breakdown scene.

You think just because I'm a movie star I don't have feelings. I'm an actress. I have all of 'em!

I promise that there will be some non-fest stuff for you to enjoy this week. But you still haven't answered my October questions. How should we celebrate the spooky month. Any requests? 

Open Thread. What did I miss?

THE LEFTOVERS just gets better and better. how phenomenal is Ann Dowd any way?It occurred to me yesterday while making an exceedingly poor attempt to fully recuperate from TIFF madness (I should have been resting my strained eyeballs but instead I was emptying the DVR) that I had missed two whole weeks of regular news. I joked about this on twitter but I'm 150% sure that I missed something I'd actually like to have known about!

It's easy to miss things, even if you're fully immersed in the industry. (An example: I was talking to Felicity Jones at that Theory of Everything party about her scenes with Charlie Cox, who is so sweetly crush-worthy in the movie, and she somehow hadn't heard that he was the new Daredevil for Netflix!)

What movie things, besides TIFF and the standard Oscar buzz, have been on your mind these past couple of weeks?

Anyone know which Manhattan movie theater this is? I thought Film Forum at first but the building next to it looks wrong.

I woke up thinking about Ingmar Bergman movies because in Summer Wishes Winter Dreams (1973) Joanne Woodward and her mother Sylvia Sidney take in Wild Strawberries. Joanne immediately falls asleep which you should never do at great movies. Bad Joanne, bad! But how funny is it that one of the Oscar nominated films of 1973 has a  Bergman scene in it in the same year that the Academy went wild for Cries and Whispers? And then I thought about how evil it was for me to program two awesome but gruellingly enigmatic movies in a row for Best Shot (Under the Skin then Cries & Whispers) but they are going to make such amazing 'hit me with your best shot' episodes. Movies that leave a lot of room for the audience to wander around in deserve audiences that will do the wandering if you what I mean.
