Win the "I'm So Excited" Prize Pack

I would personally like to thank Sony Pictures Classics for latching on to Pedro Almodóvar all those years ago and nurturing his ongoing fandom in arthouse circles. As you may have heard his latest, I'm So Excited, is in the theaters this weekend. SPC is offering five prize packs to readers right here at TFE!

Enter to win an I'm So Excited! Prize Pack!

The I'm So Excited Prize Pack includes one  I'm So Excited flight attendant t-shirt, one I'm So Excited flight inflatable neck pillow and one I'm So Excited pilot wing pin.

To enter just send me an email by Monday July 1st at Midnight with...
  • "I'm So Excited" in the subject line
  • Your name and shipping address
  • And the answer to this question: If you found yourself on a full flight with all the characters from Pedro's filmography, who would you sit next to and why?

The official synopsis goes like so...

Contest: "The Heat" Prize Pack

The Heat opens in theaters everywhere on June 28th and 20th Century Fox is gifting 5 lucky TFE readers The Heat Prize Packs (US residents only this time. sorry) which include, a fan, a t-shirt, and a movie poster.

Various version of this poster have already stirred up some controversy for the weird slimming of Melissa McCarthy (um, people know what she looks like... and they like her like that!) so consider it a hot button keepsake. I'm seeing this Tuesday and excited because it seems like ideal counterprogramming in our global all boy all superhero summer crisis each year. Is it too much to hope for that it's as funny as Outrageous Fortune (1986) the female odd couple comedy that keeps coming to mind for me when I think of this one? (Though perhaps Miss Congeniality 2 is a better comparison)

Les Miz *WINNERS*

It's Reader Appreciation Month so I'm playing Santa with gifts.

I'm so sorry I didn't announce this sooner! I do get backed up here. I know those of you who entered the Les Miz contest are dying to just buy the new blu-ray/dvd combo pack if you didn't win. This contest had a great response. I asked interested Red & Black revolutionaries to answer three questions:

• Which kind of bread would you bake Valjean so he doesn't steal another loaf?
• Which movie hooker other than Fantine should've had a death bed song?
• Bring Him Home: Jackman, Redmayne, Tveit or Crowe?

I had much fun reading the often creative answers. But the three winners, chosen randomly, are...

ROB S in Palm Springs who writes:

  1. BREAD: Pain de campagne, which I hope Hugh will stick around to enjoy as pain perdu.
  2. HOOKER: Mildred, from Of Human Bondage....Bette Davis croaking it out as she croaks.
  3. MAN TO TAKE HOME: Eddie Redmayne for sure. IMO the MVP of Les Misérables

'pain perdu'. teehee. Although I just realized that Rob is basically announcing with his answers that he's taking both Jackman and Redmayne home. Greedy!

JEREMY E in New York who writes:

  1. BREAD: Gotta be pumpernickel for Hugh.  Hard on the pump, light on the nickel
  2. HOOKER: Hands down, "Kit de Luca", Julia Roberts best friend in Pretty Woman---if only to hear her sing "Cinder-fucken-rella" in a tenor voice.
  3. MAN TO TAKE HOME: Hugh

ROBERTA L in New Jersey who writes:

  1. BREAD: I would bake Hugh Jackman Sweet Buns, of course. Although Fruitcake is a strong contender. Because hello, he plays on your team, not mine. I don't care who his wife is.
  2. HOOKER: So difficult! Barely-a-teen Brooke Shields? Jon Voight? What's-her-head in Risky Business? Nahh, it's obvious. Barbra Streisand in Nuts
  3. MAN TO TAKE HOME: Fine. Jackman. I mean that's my type, isn't it?

Roberta was one of only two contestants brave enough to sing her heart out for extra contest entries. So here she is in this audio clip doing her best Eponine for "On My Own". Nice job!

  2. answer the following three questions (which might be reprinted here):
    1) which type of bread would you bake for Hugh Jackman so he doesn't have to steal a loaf?
    2) which movie prostitute do you most wish had sung deathbed songs before a cruel passing a la Anne Hathaway?
    3) Bring Him Home? (Crowe, Redmayne, Jackman or Tveit?)
  3. Not Mandatory.
For 1 extra entry like TFE on Facebook.
For 5 extra entries, you can sing your show-tune loving lungs out in a video.

THREE WINNERS WILL BE DRAWN AT RANDOM ON MARCH 21ST. Will You Join In Our CRUSADE Contest? Even if you aren't entering, I expect answers to the bread, hooker, and home-bringing question right here in the comments. You know you wanna

"Are you thoughtless in your remarks?" - The Master Winners

Maybe if we'd passed out free handjobs?Last week I asked readers to submit themselves to processing to enter a chance to win a copy of The Master on Blu-Ray. Whether it's the polarizing nature of the film or that I merely asked too much of you -- what's a little processing between friends? -- this contest had less participation than we usually get.

How come?

Nevertheless, The Master strikes me as the sort of film that those who enjoy will end up watching on loop to try to tease out its sometimes obtuse meaning.

Honorable Mentions: Apologies to Derreck whose entry was creepy sublime --- all right all right, we'll do The Talented Mr Ripley for Hit Me With Your Best Shot! --  and Checko whose entry was quite amusing. But I only have two copies to give away. Trust that I wish I had four.

THE WINNERS ARE

Winner #1 is Kenneth.
This informal processing just gets better and better as it goes. Loves it.  I don't know if Kenneth is the bald one or the furry one but I'm crushing hard either way.

Winner #2 is Manuel
Who also went the extra mile. He submitted Nicole Kidman for processing! Ha. What would Nicole make of this? LOL. I personally loved it and you will too if you have a little Kidmaniac inside of you... here's a taste:

Are you thoughtless in your remarks?

NO. Biting and truthful maybe. Never thoughtless.

Do you linger at bus stations for pleasure?
NO. I prefer train stations. They help me pass the hours.

So click on over to his blog to read the full processing.

Gentlemen, your Blu-Rays are on the way (or will be as soon as you get in touch with me to arrange)!
