Golden Globes Celebrity Flooding

The great flood of 2014 is upon us. And I'm not talking about the deluge of upcoming awards ceremonies but the red carpet at the Golden Globes...

You'd think it could have waited for the Noah premiere in March!

Herewith my favorite tweets about The Great Flood of 2014

@matwhi "Life imitating E! Network: Burst sewage pipe floods red carpet."
@dan_munz "Today In Metaphors: RT : Golden Globes: Sewage Pipe Bursts, Floods Red Carpet"
@joereid "If this flood keeps up. I'm liking Kate Winslet's chances. Leo, not so much."
@kateyrich "“Who are you wearing?” a befuddled Ryan Secrest asked the puddle on the Globes red carpet."

P.S. Lupita Nyong'o already won the Best Dresses lists... (though I'm also partial to Elisabeth Moss's deco dress

Ohmygod I've been tweeting but I shall start live-bloging or at least I'll recap. I dunno. We'll see. It's almost here. It's only fitting that we watch Emma Thompson RUNNING down the red carpet. For reasons. When she took her shoes off with me, I thought it was an unusual moment but it turns out it's kind of Emma's shtick this season!

Link is the New Blog

Salon Laverne Cox (Orange is the New Black) continues to be a great spokesperson for trans people, shutting down Katie Couric's indelicate questions
HitFix the composers from Frozen working on Bob the Musical for Disney. Sounds like a silly/fun project.

Gawker Neil Patrick Harris has many margaritas in Mexico. LOL. #12 is my favorite, for the text as much as the picture
Variety Meryl Streep's ode to Emma Thompson and Walt Disney diss at the NBR gala

Variety reports on the damage control the critics circle is doing now
The Carpetbagger on official apologies and Armond White's own denials that he heckled. Since I know people who were there, I know he's lying about other people lying about him.

Julianne Moore & Liv FreundlichFinally...
We never talked about Carrie (2013) after it hit theaters, primarily because I didn't see it. I guess it's on DVD next Tuesday? Up until very recently I had seen everything that Julianne Moore ever made after falling in love with her in [safe]. Yes, even that straight to DVD horror flick with Jonathan Rhys Meyers. I have only met two people in my entire life who love Brian dePalma's Carrie (1976) more than I do: drag superstar Jackie Beat (who told me it was her all time favorite film) and my friend JA at My New Plaid Pants. He finally saw the misbegotten studio cash-in remake and lived to write about it. He predictably hated it but actually found one nice thing to say about Chloe Moretz so that... surprised me.

The photo to your left is of Julianne and her daughter so you can see that the apple doesn't fall far from the tree and also because theyre so pretty and wouldn't you rather look at that glorious matching set than a still from Carrie (2013)? You're welcome.

Live Blogging: THR's Actress Roundtable

HAPPY THANKSGIVING! Today I am thankful for... actresses.

In other words it's a Thursday. Well, listen, I'm always thankful for actresses but now I finally have a tiny bit of time to say so. Can you believe I've held out until now to watch The Hollywood Report's Actress Roundtable? If you've already moved on I forgive you but I wanted to do it in one sitting and finally had the time. As you read this I'm probably on my way to feast with my besties but right now as I write, I'm pretending I'm settling in for a Thanksgiving dinner with (drumroll please) two-time Oscar winning ham Emma Thompson (who I just had cocktails with!), Julia Brockovich-Roberts who brought fish ("eat your fish, bitch!"), Lupita Nyong'o who provides the appetizer (to what we hope is an overflowing career o' plenty), Amy Adams who brought stuffing (she's in everything!), Oprah Winfrey (who paid all the grocery bills) and Octavia Spencer (who brought choc... no, too obvious! abort. abort.)

So let's begin...

In Contention I'm beginning to realize that Guy Lodge and I have very very different taste in actresses. He thinks Julia Roberts is the MVP of August: Osage County. (I will say this for her: she has the toughest role and she is really going for it.)
Gurus of Gold for this week's chart David Poland had us imagine what would happen if Oscar held a "Best Casting" prize and didn't differentiate between Adapted and Original Screenplay. FTR I love some of the other gurus choices for Casting more than my own picks but I was doing it how I thought Oscar might...
