Kidman in Cannes. Part 2.

Hello mortals,

It is me, your ruler and Empress Nicole Kidman here to remind you that perfection is attainable if you work real hard to attain it *giggles* OK, not really, I was born with it.

However, I was sent from my galaxy to share my perfection with you and improve your existence through my many servants across time and space. As I go about being all perfect and stuff at Cannes, I'll leave you with the meek Jose who will tell you stories of my achievements and miracles.

Toodles!

*vanishes in a cloud of lavender scented glitter*

Thanks your highness! Last time we saw Nicole she was pleasing John Cameron Mitchell, Elle Fanning and Sandy Powell by making her first Cannes appearance in Rodarte. Since then there have been a whopping three reports of Kidmanifestations at the French Riviera. Now let us turn our pages to the second chapter of the holy book of Kidman at Cannes.  See the holy apparitions after the jump...

Kidman in Cannes. Part 1.

Jose here. The time we've all been waiting for has come, Nicole Kidman has made her first appearance at the 2017 Cannes Film Festival *insert heavenly choir* the Oscar winner has approximately four projects that will be screened in and out of competition at the festival, which means we might get to see her as many times as we did when she was in the jury four years ago! To celebrate we are picking up with our Kidman in Cannes series with Nicole at the premiere of How to Talk to Girls at Parties.

Bask yourself in the glory of the full look after the jump.

Red Carpet: Best Dressed Women at the Oscars

Here's Jose with best looks from the 2016 Academy Awards...

And on Oscar Sunday Meryl said "let there be fashion", and then there was fashion.

The 2010's should not only be remembered for being the decade in which the greatest living actress earned her record-breaking 20th nomination, but also as the decade when she found a red carpet style that fit her iconoclastic image as both the Grand Dame of American cinema and someone who wants the world to think she "woke up like dis". In 2017 she even had her very first fashion feud (paging Ryan Murphy) when she had a PR battle with couture supervillain Karl Lagerfeld over a Chanel dress that was to be worn by no one (perhaps we will see Nicole wear it at Cannes someday?) In the end Meryl showed up in a statement-making Elie Saab couture creation in deep regal blue that combined pants with a ballgown, perhaps a nod to Hillary and the ultimate dig at T**** who believes there is only one way for women to "dress at work"?

PS: She also forgave Karl.

Following in Meryl's magnanimity this year I present you my favorite looks from the Oscar red carpet unranked...

All the Supporting Actress Gowns

Remember a couple of years ago when that Best Actress Gown graphic was going around? TFE reader Lucio Tirao, who we've profiled before here in a reader spotlight, was frustrated that there wasn't one for Best Supporting Actress so he created it himself!

You can see the whole chart after the jump and click to embiggen for the hi-res image...

Red Carpet Lineup: Best, Boldest, and Most Basic BAFTA Beauties

Nathaniel here since our fashion expert Jose Solis is unavailable to share his red carpet expertise. Argh! Unlike Jose I cannot tell you who these actresses are wearing -- my gawking is strictly actress-focused. But have I ever told you about my favorite "category" on red carpets? It's "Actresses Who Show up in Costumes as Fictional Characters Nobody Has Invented Yet" which is just what Noomi Rapace and Anya Taylor Joy did at this weekend's BAFTAs!

Boldest: Noomi & Anya

What kind of fictional characters are these? Please help me write those character profiles in the comments won't you? More gowns from superstars like Emma Stone, Penélope Cruz, and Nicole Kidman follow after the jump...
